The heart holiday is upon us. That'??s right. It'??s the season of smooch. You can'??t beat it, so why not join it? Here are a few of our favorites for bringing a little romance to your home this Valentine'??s Day. With these sweet gifts, the time for love is now.
Sweets for the Sweet:
Although those little dime-store conversation hearts are really sweet, why not say how much you love your sweetie by giving them the best. Godiva...It's almost synonymous with lavishing someone with a box of gourmet chocolates. Their new heart-shaped red satin box is filled with a special Valentine'??s Day assortment of milk, dark, and white chocolates, including seasonal favorites Milk Chocolate Mousse and Passion Fruit truffles. A sidenote that makes this even more darling - the box is topped with a fabric rosette pin that we pinned onto a headband for our fashion-forward daughter. The boxes are available in 15 to 40 pieces for $50 to $100.
We are loving the Ralph Lauren Romance Valentine'??s Day Gift sets that captures the timeless essence of falling in love '?? along with the sensual essence of velvety woods, extravagant florals and seductive musk. This Valentine'??s Day, each purchase of Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum will be accompanied by either a box of Dylan'??s Candy Belgium chocolates or a dozen pink roses (gift is dependent on date and Macy'??s location). Available at select Macy'??s locations nationwide (Dylan'??s Candy available starting February 1 and Roses available for a limited time starting February 11)
For the Picky One:
After stressing about coming up with clever gift ideas, two Denver moms came up with a sweet idea - a candy e-gift card. With SugarWish, the buyer picks the size of gift that they want to send (along with an eCard) and the lucky recipient visits an online candy store to choose their four favorites out of 80 selections. Think gummie worms, Sour Patch kids, licorice, chocolates like M&Ms and Reese's, and even old timey candies like Mary Janes, Bazooka gum and Bit-O-Honeys. There are three different gift sizes that range from $25 to $60.
Thirsty for Love:
Who isn't, right? SIGG bottles fill both hearts and thirsts with their cute Hello Kitty Valentine bottle, perfect for the little love in your life. The sweet pink and white polka-dotted bottle features the famous feline with Valentines and is 13-ounces, perfect for their backpack or lunch pail. Another favorite is the Twittering, a lovely magenta water bottle with a delicate pattern, pale pink and blue birds, hearts and flowers. Perhaps it's an homage to all that tweeting you've been doing with your crush? Both bottles are aluminum with a highly resistant lining, making them almost unbreakable. If only hearts were that way. *sigh*
Birds of a Feather:
Flock together this Valentine's day with this Love birds silk pillow from West Elm ($39). Perfect for feathering your nest, it's based on an original watercolor and is screen-printed on pure silk (don't worry, it's machine washable). Its subtle rose bisque color makes it a sweet accent on a sofa, bed (...hmmmmm...) or favorite seat. Just pop in a 18" square pillow insert and it's cuddle time. We also love the RabLabs Espera Frames in Gold ($255-$485) at RabLabs.com (check out our full review here) and the super comfortable linens from Crane & Canopy at CraneandCanopy.com (check out our full review here).
Heart on Your Sleeve?
Forget the sleeve. Wear your heart on your legs with these silky hose from Pamela Mann on alexblake.com ($12). Without saying a word, you'll definitely do the talking and let him know how you feel with these simply stylish but tres sexy nude tights. The black back seam spells out the word "love" at the ankle. Or speak the language of love with the French Je t'aimefor a oui bit of romance.
Portraits that Say So Much:
We are loving the personalized portraits from Lovehearts (check out our full review here) where you can find beautiful hand-made hearts set in a shadowbox frame. They can also be personalized with initials, dates, name, colors--perfect for someone in your life.
With how expensive flowers are during Valentine's, why not spend your money on something that she'll love that won't wilt and wither. TheCover is a line of vibrant, chic iPad covers from design house Graphique de France. The playful Red Poppy design brings a bouquet of beauty to the iPad for under $30. With the feel of a notebook cover (or more like a hard cover book) it has priceless features like unique magnetic strips that allow you to effortlessly transform your device from typing to movie-mode positions. Also answering the "why buy when they die" flower question, the Plush Unicorn Bouquet from ThinkGeek.com gives your loved one 11 tiny unicorns 3.5" x 5" instead of buds. (Question: why not a dozen? I have no idea.) These little mystical creatures detach from their "stems" for play with posable legs that can stand, sit, and lie down. The bouquet itself is a lovely white and purple paper with a light blue bow.
On Our Wish List:
We have our list all set for the special people in our lives, but we also have a few wish list items that we sure wouldn't mind receiving. One of our favorites is the chic Elva Fields Never Indifferent Necklace ($228), the Alexis Russell Ruby Ring in 14k Gold + Sterling Silver ($135), the fun Plümo Wool Bow Scarf ($137.52), the fashionable Eva Mini Saddlebag from Ellington handbags ($179) and the pretty Loom Bracelet & Tangle Necklace from HarabuHouse.com.
