Under Armour for Women

Under Armour women

This week I joined a few dozen bloggers for a test run of fitness fashions. Under Armour took over a workout studio and we put the clothes to the test during a Boot Camp Class at Exhale Spa at the Hotel Gansevoort.

No mercy. The instructor was tough and she worked muscles I clearly have been neglecting! We all worked up a sweat. And that was the point. In addition to the great workout we were filled in on the '??What'??s Beautiful'? campaign contest. It's all about encouraging women to sweat every day. Under Armour has a long history of supporting men (I think the MD Terrapins football team was one of the first partners)--now they want to support women.

The "What is Beautiful" campaign (whatsbeautiful.ua.com/) inspires women to share a fitness goal and then go for it with the support of Under Armour and a grassroots group of women with mission. The site offers motivation and occasional swag! The videos on the site gave me shivers. I love strong women who make opportunities not excuses.

But back to the fashion. The design team has been whipping up clothes that perform well and look hot. I thought the colors were sharp and I found the tops supportive--I'm wearing the Charm Tank and the Seamless Sports Bra. For pilates or a core class like this, I would pick the tank and bra--the length offered me coverage and a flawless fit without anything bulky. The color and texture add some excitement to the outfit. .

The day after the workout, I took the shoes and the Armour Bra for a road test. The bra was amazing during my high impact 5-mile run and the Spine shoes gave me terrific lightweight support. They took a dual density foam chassis and carved out the bulk to create an ultra-light, ultra-responsive shoe that is meant to mimic the human spine.
