Before you book your family ski trip this season read our Colorado destination reviews. We got the chance to test out the slopes at Keystone & Breckenridge last year. Here's the scoop:
This year Breckenridge celebrates its 50th anniversary. Last year we headed west for the record-setting snow season and stayed at the newly opened luxurious One Ski Hill Place, We checked out this new RockResort and gave it a rave review. You can check out the full recap here. But to highlight a few things.
Accommodations befitting rock stars
A kids ski experience that can't be beat
So much terrain it's insane
We can't say enough about the plush One Ski Hill property or the ski school. Kids 3 - 13 head to the Mountains of Discovery Program that teaches the fundamentals of traditional ski and ride school while building a sense of passion for the sport. And no tot is too small for Breck. At Breckenridge, the child care will accommodate kids as young as two months.
But the bar can go higher, Breckenridge'??s golden season will continue to bring signature events like the Ullr Fest and the International Snow Sculpture Championships in January, the new Spring Fever Festival in April.
If you love the feel of a a European-style village, Keystone is for you. When I look back at our trip the most memorable aspect of this spot was the staff. Everywhere we turned there was a friendly helpful face. Be it at ski school drop-off or for my on-mountain lesson or for our snowshoe adventure--the team here gets customer service.
And yes, the terrain is off the hook here too. But save some time for non-ski activities. Our meal at Keystone Ranch was a gourmet feast. And give your family time to slide down the tubing hill and explore the cross-country trails. Read the full review here. When I ask my kids about Keystone they remember the warm gondolas to the slopes, the outdoor pools, and these cute carts meant to carry gear back and forth to the slopes.
Don't miss Kidtopia! Back for its third season Keystone'??s signature family-friendly event, Kidtopia will host even more free activities, an even bigger Snow Fort and look for new off-mountain events and activities. Keep checking www.keystonekidtopia.com for further information on the largest family event in the Colorado Rockies. Gear up for enhanced ice skating adventures available under the sunny sky and the twinkling night sky. From Kidtopia Teen Nights, four diamond dining experiences, snow tubing and sleigh rides there is something for everyone at Keystone Resort.
Momtrends was not paid for this post. We did enjoy a press trip during the 2010-2011 ski season.
