Liz Gumbinner for Target? Nope, @mom101 doesn't have a new designer line at Target (yet). What Liz Gumbinner, Co-Founder of CoolMomPicks.com and Editor of Mom101, does have is the inside scoop on the coolest tech goodies at Target.
Liz is the mom of two and always up on the trends in tech. In 2010, Liz and her team launched a new resource for moms on the hunt for tech news--CoolMomTech.com
A few weeks ago Liz and I popped on a phone call to talk about gift giving. First I wanted to be clear that I am not a technonut. I like my gadgets small, efficient and uncomplicated. I'm happy to let experts like Liz do the heavy lifting so I can get back to posting about style. When we chatted, Liz promised me all the family-focused tech gear she was going to suggest was clean-looking and user-friendly. Plus all her picks offer parents good value.
I've never purchased any tech at Target. I tend to go to the source (Apple Stores) or to a "big box" that focuses on electronics (Best Buy). Liz assures me that Target has all the brands I love, such as Apple as well as the service and selection I crave.
In fact, Target carries the iPhone and other Apple products (which I didn't know). If you are running out to Target tomorrow don't just get the phone add a case too. Liz says, "an iPhone cover is a reflection of style...like a handbag. Target has a huge selection of Mobile Expressions cases. Great tip Liz: If you are giving someone a phone it makes it more personal.
For smaller budgets, try the coloud earphones ($15). Liz says they are "really stylish and simple and come in every possible color of the rainbow." I love the exclusive color for Target--silver.
My big question is what will keep my kids quiet in the backseat while traveling? Liz said all CoolMomTech gear has to be: appropriate, durable and a sound investment. Her top pick this year is the Nabi 7" tablet for kids ($199.99). It's a real android tablet with safety controls embedded.
Thanks Liz for these great ideas. Good luck for all you last minute shoppers. It's nice to know you can get so many great gifts all in one spot. For more tech suggestions visit:
