Shaq and Tupperware Celebrate Boys and Girls Club of America in a Cooking Demo


A few days ago I had the pleasure to attend an interactive demonstration with retired NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal and Rick Goings, CEO of Tupperware where they showcased some products from the line and supported the amazing educators and leaders at the Boys and Girls Club of America. They were also in attendance to raise money to the Newark Boys and Girls Club of America through a cooking and free throw competition that resulted in an impressive $25,000 donation to the organization.

The event kicked off as members of the Boys and Girls Club of America spoke about their positive experiences including educational opportunities, arts programs, fitness activities, career programs, life and health skills and much more to help foster the interests and development of young people.

Shaq was also a member of the Boys and Girls Club of America and at the event he spoke of how positive the experience was for him as a boy in Newark, New Jersey. He stated, "I wanted to be Dr. J and play in the NBA and I wanted to be the doctor down the street. And I did both."

Shaq and Rick also participated in a fun cooking competition to showcase some items from Tupperware. They created a delicious guacamole with the innovative Chop 'N Prep Chef as well as some salmon in various microwavable containers from Tupperware. At the event, Goings remarked that solutions from Tupperware makes it easy to both prepare and store healthy food. Using their vibrant and sturdy products is also a great way to get kids in the kitchen as they can easily chop and prepare a variety of items thanks to their unique product line!

Shaq then demonstrated free throwing to Rick while Rick showed Shaq how to make a strawberry smoothie using Tupperware products. They then took part in a fun two-minute drill where for every smoothie and free throw that was made equaled an $1,000 donation to the Newark Boys and Girls Club.

In end, this friendly competition raised money for an amazing organization and showcased the products from the iconic brand that offers so much for the home cook.
