Nature' Path Cereals

Nature' Path Cereals make breakfast easy and delicious. I'??d love to be someone that has hot four-course breakfast ready for me and my family everyday. But the reality is the mornings go way too fast where sometimes only a quick bowl of cereal will suffice. Luckily, today'??s cereal options are a lot different than when I was growing up '?? where we now have organic, wholesome and low sugar options for our kids like the cereals from Nature's Path.

I recently had the chance to test out Nature'??s Path, an independent organic food company, and their line of healthy and hearty cereals. After learning that the company doesn'??t use any artificial preservatives, additives, GMOs or synthetic pesticides and tasting everything from their gluten-free and low-sugar EnvironKidz to their bran cereals, I don'??t feel so bad about my regular quick bowl of cereal. Here are some of their latest offerings so you can your kids can also enjoy a quick and healthy morning meal.

1. EnvironKidz '?? This gluten-free and organic line of cereals is a fun line for kids where they can choose from a box of Amazon Frosted Flakes (gluten-free cornmeal), Koala Crisp (milk chocolate-flavored rice puffs), Gorilla Munch (cornmeal puffs), Leapin Lemurs (peanut butter and chocolate-flavored) or Panada Puffs Cereal (peanut butter-flavored). A lightly sweetened cereal, some products from the EnvironKidz line are made evaporated cane juice, organic peanut butter, organic molasses, organic whole grain corn meal, and organic cocoa. This crunchy breakfast was ideal with a banana and some skim milk (160 calories a serving) that was also a delicious crunchy light snack.

2. Smart Bran Cereal '?? There is always talk about adding more fiber to our diets and thanks to Smart Bran you'??ll get a whopping 13 grams per serving from this psyllium, oat bran, and wheat bran-based cereal. As a healthy and light cereal (there are only 130 calories per serving and 6 grams of sugar), you may want to add some berries for some natural sweetness or try the cookie recipe listed below to enjoy a new variation of your morning cereal.

'?¢ 2 c. SmartBran'?¢ cereal
'?¢ 1 - 1/4 c. apple juice
'?¢ 1 tsp. vanilla
'?¢ 2 c. whole wheat flour
'?¢ 1/3 to 1/2 c. packed dark brown sugar
'?¢ 2 - 1/2 tsp. baking powder
'?¢ 1/2 tsp. baking soda
'?¢ 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
'?¢ 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
'?¢ 1/8 tsp. salt
'?¢ 1/2 c. vegetable oil, plus 1 tsp. for preparing cookie sheets
'?¢ 3/4 c. raisins
'?¢ 3/4 c. chopped walnuts

1. Brush two cookie sheets lightly with oil. Place racks in center and preheat oven to 375F.
2. In a bowl, combine cereal, apple juice, and vanilla. Set aside to soften for 10 minutes.
3. In a large bowl, combine flour, 1/3 c. brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, and salt.
4. Stir oil into cereal mixture. Pour cereal mixture on top of dry ingredients. Add the raisins and walnuts. Stir to combine. Taste batter. Stir in more sugar, if you wish.
5. Using your hands, shape bits of dough into balls about 1-1/2 inches in diameter. Place about an inch apart on oiled cookie sheets. (If dough is moist and sticky, drop heaping tablespoons directly onto sheets.) With your fingers or the back of a spoon, flatten dough into rough circles with a 2-inch diameter.
6. Bake for 9 minutes. Rotate pans back to front and bottom shelf to top. Continue baking until bottoms are golden, 8 to 10 minutes more. Transfer cookies to a cooling rack. When cool, store in a tightly sealed container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 4 months.
