With Breast Cancer Awareness month we have been learning about some incredible charities and organizations that are helping to raise funds and awareness about this important cause. One such organization is My Hope Chest, a national nonprofit that helps uninsured breast cancer survivors obtain reconstructive surgery.

Founded by Alisa Savoretti, a breast cancer survivor and Las Vegas Showgirl who following a mastectomy found herself living with one breast. Savoretti didn't have insurance and she went back on stage as a Vegas showgirl after chemo '?? stuffing her costumes! She became known as the lopsided showgirl, and vowed to help others stuck in the same boat. Alisa had to wait nearly 3 years to acquire her own reconstruction - realizing there was a "huge gap in treatment options for the uninsured.'? With help from the National Association of Women Business Owners, she started My Hope Chest to help women throughout the U.S.

Since the organization has grown there is a waiting list of uninsured women who would like to have reconstruction. Since this organization works solely with volunteers, they rely on sponsors and tax-deductible donations to help pay for reconstruction. On MyHopeChest.org you can donate as little as $25 where 100% of these funds will go toward breast reconstruction surgery and eventually improve a survivor's quality of life.
