Our favorite Pigeon has really been trying to run things and is even trying to run a new app. The New York Times bestselling author and three-time Caldecott Honor winner Mo Willems, launched his first original app entitled, '??Don'??t Let The Pigeon Run This App!,'? which is inspired by his children'??s book series and is available on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
To celebrate the launch of this '??Pigeon-tastic'? app, New York City media personnel were invited to a luncheon at Magnolia Bakery on the Upper West Side where, along with our children, we were able to test out the app and mix and mingle with the man of the hour, Mr. Mo Willems.
I have been a fan of some of Mr. Willems'?? books, such as Knuffle Bunny, Knuffle Bunny Too and The Pigeon Finds A Hot Dog! for years now and have shared my love of these masterpieces with my 4-year-old son, who has also grown to love these books. We'??re huge Mo Willems fans, so needless to say, we were quite excited to meet him, test out this new app, and have Mr. Willems autograph our books. What a treat!
In '??Don'??t Let The Pigeon Run This App!,'? children are in control. They can create and illustrate their own pigeons in a very interactive way. While playing with this app, children are not merely the audience, but the author as well. Children will be sure to enjoy the animated storytelling experience starring the Pigeon and three unique storytelling modes to enjoy unlimited Pigeon stories. There is also a pretty awesome read-along option in which children will be able to personalize the content of each story with their voice. Plus, children can delight in a Pigeon drawing tutorial with Mo Willems himself. The app also features a '??Favorites Stories'? section where readers will be allowed to create their own personal libraries.
'??Don'??t Let The Pigeon Run This App!'? is now available for $6.99 from the App Store on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
