Merry Christmas from Momtrends. Christmas Eve service put me in the mood to receive the blessings of the season. After all the sadness of Sandy the Hurricane and Sandy Hook the school, it seems more important than ever to share my gratitude. The dinner was lovely (Pork and Cranberries) and the kids were angels. In the morning, Santa left a trail of glittery snow from the front door to the tree.
Though I always try to stop time during the holiday and take mental snapshots of my life, this year it was essential to make like Linus and really focus on the meaning of Christmas. The American Girl gifts were the hit of the season for our girls, with the littlest trendsetter in our family getting her first official AG Doll (Molly) and the big sister getting a lot of other AG goodies. But my gift came without any shopping required. My haul included one note from my 7 year old telling me how much she loved me. It was the best gift ever.
I've got a glass of wine, dinner in a slow cooker (I'm spent from weeks of huge meals with lots of effort) and Elf queued up on the DVD player. With the house full of family and the sounds of little girls giggling, both heart and home are brimming over. There's more fashion and style fun starting up again tomorrow. For now, wishing you and your family all the joys of the season.
