Yesterday, I the pleasure to meet actress and mom Melissa Joan Hart, at her carnival-themed baby shower at Make Meaning, the creative destination on the Upper West Side of New York City. Joined by 20 of her closest friends, Melissa enjoyed a festive and creative baby shower filled with cake decorating, glitter tattoos, soap and candle making, ceramics painting and treats from Baked by Melissa, frozen sundaes from the Soft Serve Fruit Co. and GODIVA chocolates.
Due in a few weeks with her third child, I had a chance to talk with her about motherhood, fame and her excitement for the birth of her new baby. A child celebrity (she was on "Clarissa Explains It All" and then later Sabrina the Teenage Witch"), the down-to-earth actress spoke of how her children have no idea that she is famous, and how they think it is weird when people want to take pictures of her. She laughed, "They always say why does that person know who you are?" Discussing the pregnancy, she remarked how lucky she was to be able to take time off from her show "Melissa and Joey" and get ready for the new baby. Adding, "I have the luxury to bring the baby on the set with me - since I've been a mom I truly appreciate that I have flexibility in my job." As a mom of two boys, she has no idea of what the sex of the baby will be where she remarked that her sons want another boy to play with. When I asked her about what she is excited about in becoming a mom again, she said "I feel I will enjoy every moment of it - I am not going to question my instincts." Adding ,"this time around will be much more relaxed."
At this festive event, guests are asked to bring piles of diapers to be donated to one of our favorite charities - Baby Buggy, an organization that is dedicated to providing families in need with essentials like baby gear, clothing, strollers, cribs, etc.

Spiked Apple Cider Pops
September in the South is, in my opinion, still summer. The eighties and nineties always prevail and make the traditional fall flavors that I crave so much slightly out of reach. As much as I want to relax and sip on some hot cider, at the moment, I still need something iced. ...read more
