Creative play and crafting is big in my house - especially during the winter months when it is less about running around and more about slowing down. A few days ago I was thrilled to go to Sugar Shop with my girls to learn more about Wummelbox, a successful monthly arts and crafts subscription that offers children 3-7 years old three projects based on various themes. Started in Germany by Philippa Pauen, the company launched in the US in December, and provides a box filled with unique activities and all of the materials that they will need to get started.

At the event, I had the chance to meet with Philippa who spoke about how the company was started to connect learning with play. My daughter got to check this out first-hand as she got to work with the Color and Light-themed box by making her very own kaleidoscope. The beauty of these boxes is that they are ranked by difficulty with the Kaleidoscope requiring some help. I love how each step was clearly illustrated and showed the process of what materials should be used. After putting together the kaleidoscope my daughter loved looking through the light and checking out the change of colors and sparkly stars. The kit also includes two additional projects where kids can make a top (easiest) and a windcatcher (hardest). This provides a way to connect meaning as well as the experience of learning through creating. I love this concept and I could see how much my daughter was getting a kick out of the whole experience. Other exciting boxes in their line include color, circus and dexterity for hours of learning and creative and play.

While she was creating the kaleidoscope, I loved that all of the materials are included but that they are also high quality and mainly made out of natural and eco-friendly materials wherever possible. I also really loved how Wummelbox focuses on various stages of a child's development including the senses, speech and movement to create unique, educational and meaningful projects.

They also have an interesting creation proces that involves Wummelbox, parents and kids so that it meets everyone's needs for fun and education. The sign-up process is also really easy where you can try one box for a month, try a three-month subscription or sign up for a year for even more savings.

Offering high quality and educational projects, kids will love these unique crafts while parents will love how Wummelbox connects learning with hours of creative play.
