Kidzvuz held the first ever 'Fashion Tweenstas Get Your Girl On Event' in NYC this past weekend. I attended with my oldest who truly fits the category of a Tweensta. Kidzvuz Co-Founders, Rebecca Levey and Nancy Friedman brought together great brands that appeal to the Tweenstas and the moms, too. It was a great bonding experience and it was nice to see what was of interest to my daughter right before the holidays. Shh! Now I know what presents she likes!
In addition to the glitz and glam, Kidzvuz was also working with K.I.D.S - Kids in Distressed Situations (kidsdonations.org) to raise money for victims of Superstorm Sandy. I love the idea of kids helping kids. Kidzvuz will be kicking off our new community service program for kids with our non-profit partner, K.I.D.S.
What is a Fashion Tweensta you may ask?
- She'??s not quite a little kid, but not yet a teen. (7-12)
- She'??s just starting to discover her own style, her own interests, her own voice.
- She has her own opinions, and she loves to share them.
- She'??s ready for independence'?¦but not too much.
- She'??s smart, fun, funny, and fabulous.
- She cares about the world around her
One of first stops at the event was to get stylish with Children's Place. Girls were asked to accessorize an outfit and create a unique look that they like. I'm lovin' the leopard scarf and jewelry that she added to her mannequin.
Next, we headed over to iScream to check out the cutest pillows and activity books. Don't all girls love to make the Fortune Teller games? iScream makes an activity book full of different games to keep you busy for hours.
Did I say glitter? Oh, this was a favorite! Glitter Tattoos that last for a few days. Every Tweensta wants one! Fashion Angels were also on hand adding Hair Chox color and showing the latest items out for the holidays. My daughter's favorite was the 30 Decorative Tapes. So many fun uses!
Let's not forget the other Tweensta favorite - fun tech. Girls got their groove on to Just Dance 4 by Ubisoft. When you were tired of dancing, you could head over to Microsoft to learn the latest about the new Microsoft Tablet called Surface. In the Mom Lounge, I learn about mobile tech for kids such as great reads from Audible.com.
1D was there too. Ok, they weren't really there but there products from Wish Factory were. Little 1D keychains and all accessories to decorate your locker!
Last, but not least, Sparklehearts introduced healthy skin products for the tween age girls. Natural and Made in the USA were two things I liked hearing. The are also environmentally friendly and never tested on animals.
Kudos to Kidzvuz for throwing an awesome event. Lots of great info for me and my tween. Now, I'm off to convince my husband that I need the Microsoft Surface!
