Do you remember getting the J.Jillcatalog in your mailbox? I do. But as I transitioned to an online shopper I kind of forgot about the brand.
Last week I attended a Fall/Holiday Preview with the J.Jill team. I was pleased to see the line has amped up the fashion in the collection. What hasn't changed? They are still the knit experts that I knew from decades ago. The sweaters and knit dresses really stood out in the collection. The featured print Sierra Diamond Dress ($119) was my favorite find from the preview.
And I wanted to stock up on a bunch of the cozy knits like this one. These sweaters are so inviting!
This loungey look and the pure jill ultrasoft kimono-sleeve sweater were what the collection was all about--the key is not to make them look like sweats. Dress them up with great accessories like these stonewash leather boots (available online now)and toss on a great pair of slim denim with a statement scarf like this from SirAlistairRai and you've turned a ho-hum look into something noteworthy:
I would love to see them develop more prints as time goes on. The collection can look a little basic from a distance--many rich colors, but in a store, online and especially in your closet, print and pattern make a wardrobe come alive.
These are great knits to invest in and wear every day. Spice them up with great scarves, statement jewelry and rockin' boots and you'll turn basic into fantastic.
Momtrends was not paid for this post. We did get a sweater at the preview. All opinions are our own.
