I always thought it was strange that some cultures ask guests to leave their shoes at the door and slip into slippers to walk around their home. We're grownups. Not toddlers. Do you know how long it took me to create this outfit?! My shoes are part of that fashion creation. And you've ruined it!
Until I found out they do that because it'??s considered unclean to drag your shoes throughout the house. Once I put aside all of my OCD jokes, I actually thought about it. They'??re right. Think of how much is on the bottoms of your shoes. You want that tracked throughout your house? No thanks.
But even taking the shoes off isn'??t enough because you still have to get through the door. That'??s where the Amazing Mat comes in. It snags all the dirt before you walk into the foyer, garage or wherever.
Way beyond the basic rubber, fabric or grass doormats that trap but then release all the nasties from outside, The Amazing Mat catches and captures dirt, dust, pollen, mold, and up to 99.9% of germs and bacteria. It sits at your doorstep ready to come clean on outdoor germs.
Here's how it works. This unique addition to your home'??s entryway is a hard plastic 25"x31" mat with a non-skid backing (which means it can be placed on hard surfaces or carpet). On top are 30 recyclable adhesive sticky sheets (think of a large pad of fly paper). As you step on the sheets, they grab onto and collect dirt and germs from the bottoms of your shoes. When the top sheet gets dirty, simply peel it off (along with the dirt) and expose a new sheet. Toss the dirty sheet in with your other recycled plastics.
The Amazing Mat comes in a variety of designs, like Welcome, sandstone, Oriental, terra cotta, bamboo and cute little welcome paws. And speaking of those paws, if I think about how much our two dogs drag in from the backyard, some of it quite disgusting, I gag. Since the mat is safe for pets, they can just traipse across and all those muddy paw prints, as well as the gross inadvertent poop, get trapped.
Fewer dirty paws and dirty shoes also mean less vacuuming, mopping and cleaning. And that's something I definitely welcome.
The Amazing Mat is available for $19.95 on theamazingmat.com.
