Last week Momtrends had the chance to chat with Robert Verdi, a leading Lifestyle Expert, Celebrity Stylist and Television Personality about his favorite gift ideas and entertaining and decorating. Bursting with energy, Robert spoke of how some of the best finds can be found right in your local drugstore, with some of his favorites being gift sets. He says that these gifts are functional, practical affortable and they save you time and money since you can find them all in one location. Here are some more of his tips and gift ideas for moms, hostesses and the family.
1. For Mom: He loves the Olay gift sets, which he gives his own mother every year. To make it even more special, he gets a basket and adds some of her favorite things like a new book, a robe, herbal tea and so on that he changes every year. He feels this is functional gift that also creates an "escape within your home" and when searching for gifts you should always think about how it will make the receiver feel.
2. For a Family: For those that are staying with family and friends during the holiday, Robert suggests giving the pet something fun like a sweater or jacket. He also noted that batteries are always a fantastic gift that every family needs during the holidays- especially for kids and their new toys.
3. Tips for the Host: For those that are hosting, Robert suggests to make sure everything in your home looks fresh and new. He suggested to clean-up the room with a Swifter and to stock it up with shampoos like Herbal Essenses and to make sure fresh towels are on-hand and that you have enough soap and toothpaste. He said that guests should feel at home and not have to worry about where to find towels or deal with a dirty bathroom.
He also suggested that a hosts should keep a few extra gifts on hand - in case unexpected guests arrive. He noted, "BE SURE to pre-wrap and label them. The key is to keep extra gifts under the tree or near where all your gifts are kept, so that they are accessible when that person who got you gift shows up and you can quickly grab your extra gift from the pile like you planned it for them all along!'?
4. Use Social Media: A huge fan of social media, Robert noted that tools like Twitter and Facebook has changed the way we entertain. For example, you can ask your community and friends for advice on certain gift ideas, and discover entertaining tips and ideas. He noted that the ability to share constantly gives us fresh ideas and new perspective on holidays as well as throughout the year.
