Fun Recipes to Add Fiber To Your Diet

We all know we need to be getting adequate amounts of fiber in our diet, yet the majority of us aren'??t getting even half the recommended amount. In fact, according to a 2011 International Food Information Council survey of 1,000 people, 72 percent of North Americans reported that they were trying to consume more fiber (http://bit.ly/Re1p4A). Momtrends recently learned more about natural psyllium fiber supplements, such as Konsyl Original Formula as well some tips from Nutrition Expert Keri Glassmanabout how fiber can be incorporated into everyday recipes. Here are a few of our favorites.

Protein and Fiber Shake
Protein and fruit shakes are a great start to the day and help keep you full until lunchtime. This shake

1/4c orange juice
1/4c pomegranate juice
1c frozen blueberries
1 tps Vanilla whey protein
2 tbs chopped avocado
3/4c fat free yogurt
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tsp Konsyl Original Formula

Bulk Up Banana Ice Cream
A lot of people have been raving about '??Banana Ice Cream'?! This tasty treat is just simply banana cut up and frozen until hard, then placed in the blender, add a teaspoon of Konsyl and perhaps a choice of nuts'??Keri recommends peanuts!

Homemade Chili + Fiber
When making up a batch of chili'??or any soup for that matter'??it'??s easy to mix in Konsyl, which can actually help bulk up the texture a bit, but meanwhile your taste buds will be too overjoyed with the chili to notice the fiber.

Salsa Chili
2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp finely chopped garlic
3 oz lean ground turkey
¼ tsp ground cumin
¼ tsp chili powder
½c jarred chunky red salsa
1½ tsp coarsely chopped roasted cashews
¼c canned red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 tsp Konsyl Original Formula

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat the oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and add the garlic and turkey.
2. Cook about 3 minutes, stirring constantly to break up the meat and prevent sticking, until the meat is no longer pink.
3. Add the cumin, chili powder, salsa and cashews, stirring to combine. Cook 1 minute.
4. Stir in the beans and continue cooking 1 more minute, or until heated through.
5. Add Konsyl, stir to combine.
