This Friday, we've discovered two great programs to help raise awareness about food, nutrition and giving back!
Peapod grocers recently launched a Virtual Food Bank in conjunction with National Hunger Month. For every item a customer purchases from a list of nearly 20 products, including Nature's Promise Organics and Stop & Shop brands, Peapod will donate that same item to local food banks in the communities it serves.
Peapod also launched Kids Give Back, an educational initiative to teach students about nutrition and math, while partnering with their local food banks. With a donation of up to $500 in Peapod gift cards for regional fourth and fifth grade classrooms, Peapod shares nutrition and math tips that help students make the most nutritious and financially sound purchase decisions, all while contributing to their local food banks.
This promotion encourages teachers across North America to incorporate healthy eating and living messages into classroom activities. This fall, beginning October 3, teachers can win money to purchase school supplies and fresh fruit, along with 10 other teachers every week. Ten schools will also win a salad bar for their school. Winners will also receive a Del Monte Fresh Field Day event for their school in which the entire student body will enjoy a day of Del Monte fresh fruit, games and fun activities.
Winning schools in North America will be partnered with schools in other countries where Del Monte fruit is grown, to share cultural heritage and information. Partner schools will also receive $1000 grants for school supplies and improvements!
