Here at Momtrends, our smartphones are necessity. Whether it's answering email on the go, planning a grocery list, or entertaining our kids while we wait, we just might have an app for that! On my phone, this includes a full page of just food-related apps, so I'm excited to discover some new food apps!

First up is an app to help with the grocery store shopping. Do you ever wonder where, when and how your food is grown? HarvestMark Food Traceability from YottaMark, Inc is the industry'??s leading traceability solution featured on more than 3 billion fresh food items to date, from more than 3,000 farms and growers from Canada to Argentina, featuring a number of helpful sections, including:

  • Food Safety Notification: Customers can rely on this feature to receive updates on a food'??s safety status to provide an immediate line of communication to the shopper in the event of a recall
  • Trace Food: To trace food, shoppers simply download the free HarvestMark App for iPhone, look for the 16-digit HarvestMark code on participating fruit, vegetable and poultry brands, and scan or type the code to instantly retrieve harvest information specific to the package of food they'??re holding
  • '??Talk to the Farmer'?: Shoppers can ask questions and give feedback to the people who grow and sell their food using this feature, which connects them with the source of their food

HarvestMark Food Traceability is available for free download at the Apple iTunes store for the iPhone.
