Finding the Best Maternity Jeans

Finding the right pair of maternity jeans is a very daunting task. It's hard enough to jean shop when you're not pregnant!

Jenny Altman of ILOVEAGOOD.com recently spent a morning in Destination Maternity trying on jeans and finding the right pair for moms-to-be. At six months pregnant Jenny tried on about 25 pair of jeans. She tried on high-end, low-end and everything in between ranging in a few sizes and colors/washes. The overall verdict is that a dark, clean wash is the most flattering and that sticking with your usual style (skinny for me) makes you look and feel like yourself.

She left the fitting room (exhausted and out of breath) with four perfect pairs of jeans. Here are her picks for best maternity jeans:

1.AG Jeans Secret Fit Belly 5 Pocket Maternity Jeans were my all around favorite. The fit was just perfect on me and without lifting my shirt, you would never know they were maternity jeans at all.

2. Joe'??s Chelsea Skinny Leg Jeans-These colored jeans may not be your everyday jean, but they are a great alternative to the dark blues and blacks. If you'??re pregnant through spring and summer, these are a perfect warm weather pant to help liven up a maternity wardrobe.

3. J Brand Secret Fit Belly Stretch Fabric Maternity Jeans feel like a legging, but look like a jean. Super comfortable fabric and wash, these will get a lot of use in my wardrobe.

Head to a Destination Maternity store in person if you can (or their Motherhood or A Pea in the Pod stores), or order a few online to try. I recommend ordering your pre-pregnancy size, and doing so in your 3rd or 4th month when you start to need belly relief. You will get a long life out of these jeans pre and post-baby.
