Every Mother Counts, the maternal health advocacy and mobilization campaign founded by Christy Turlington Burns, recently announced the release of Every Mother Counts 2012, the organization'??s second CD collaboration with Starbucks.
Through the album, Every Mother Counts and Starbucks aim to raise funds to support efforts to reduce maternal mortality and improve maternal health around the world. Inspired by motherhood, the featured artists and musicians contributed cover songs and original compositions, many of which were recorded exclusively for this compilation.
Every Mother Counts 2012 will be available in participating Starbucks company-operated stores in the U.S. and Canada through May 29, in honor of mothers everywhere during the month of May, and will be available while supplies last. Eight dollars from the sale of each CD from participating Starbucks stores will be given in support of Every Mother Counts, through its fiscal sponsor, the New Venture Fund.
'??We'??re thrilled to announce the release of Every Mother Counts 2012,'? said Christy Turlington Burns. Adding, '??The CD is a moving tribute to mothers everywhere, and it has been a dream to see such a strong show of support for this issue from Starbucks and this remarkable group of artists who so generously contributed to Every Mother Counts 2012.'?
Every Mother Counts 2012 will debut new or unreleased recordings from Beck, Bono and The Edge, Coldplay, Diana Krall, Cedella Marley, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morissette, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Paul Simon & Edie Brickell, Patti Smith, Eddie Vedder, Rufus Wainwright and Rita Wilson. The CD will also feature recordings from David Bowie, Faith Hill, Lauryn Hill, Sade, Seal and Sting.
'??This amazing compilation is one of the finest we have been involved with in our 15 years of curating music for our stores. Our thanks goes to the artists for the inspiring and personal songs they chose to share. Starbucks is proud to offer '??Every Mother Counts 2012'?? to customers in our stores around the U.S. and Canada.'?
