The holidays are just around the corner and Embassy Suites' knows what it's like to have a houseful of overnight guests. We have a large family and most of our family lives out of state. We always gather for birthdays, holidays and celebrations of all kinds. Now that our families are getting bigger (and the little people are not so little anymore) we've started talking about staying at a guest suite when we visit one another.
In theory everyone under one roof sounds like a recipe for family fun but it can be stressful for both the host and guests alike. That'??s why Embassy Suites is teaming up with improv comedian Nate Dern of the Upright Citizens Brigade for the Embassy Suites More Good Company Campaign, to spread the word that that being good company means staying at a hotel.
Embassy Suites and Nate are hitting the road (starting on November 11th) to teach people how to be good holiday company. Nate has begun his road trip across the country from New York City to Denver to visit his parents for Thanksgiving. Along the way, he'??ll stop in Washington D.C., Detroit, Chicago and St. Louis to spend an evening with a family in their home and bestow his good guest know-how on them, including the most important '??good company'? tip of all: staying at a hotel is the key to happy, stress-free holidays.
Nate shares his tips with us below:

- Bring a hostess gift. Don'??t dare arrive empty handed!
- Follow your host'??s lead. Not everyone texts their way through dinner, so adapt to your surroundings.
- Lend a helping hand. Well don'??t just sit there, make yourself useful.
- Opt for a hotel, and eliminate the stress of a full house. Sometimes you just need to take a breather '?? thank you, spacious two-room suite hotel room.
- Send a hand-written thank you note. It'??s as simple as, '??Thank you, thank you, thank you.'?
My favorite hostess tip is to know when to help and know when to get everyone out of the hostess' hair. When I am hosting a big holiday, I am often most grateful for a few minutes alone to gather my thoughts, make sure I have everything on my list crossed off and prepared so that I get to join in on the fun instead of buzzing around while others enjoy.
