We were in a rut. A few weeks ago I was feeling totally uninspired about dinner when a box from Echelon Wines arrived. In a sampling program from Clever Girls Collective, I got a bottle of Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio. Well, with this in hand (actually with this in the fridge chilling) I said I have to break out of my rut. So I went to Food.com and found a new recipe for Flounder. I listed some of the ingredients I had on hand (wine, mushrooms and spinach) and this turned up:
Flounder with Mushrooms and wine. The recipe was quick, easy and tasty. Check out the results:
As for the wine? Yummy. We sampled the Echelon Collection Series. Made by winemaker Kurt Lorenzi this wine captures the character of fine California whites at a fraction of the price. This limited edition exceeded my expecations. I don't like extremely oakey whites. I appreciate more nuance and subtlety and this was perfect--it was rich enough to stand up to the flavors without overpowering them. A winner.
I'm thrilled that I opened the box and stepped out of my rut.

Momtrends was not paid for this post. We did get samples.
