Cookbook Review: Cook Like a Rock Star by Anne Burrell

Anne Burrell is a classically trained chef, battled Iron Chef America, hosts of the Food Network'??s Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Worst Cooks in America and is now the author ofCook Like a Rock Star: 125 Recipes, Lessons, and Culinary Secrets, a fantastic new cookbook featuring amazing recipes with Burrell's unique twists.

The book contains siz separate sections, complete with Burrell's notes, tips, and commentary; beginning with piccolini (her "little nibbles") and finishing with desserts (aptly called "my sweeties"). In between, sections on first, seconds, pastas and sides comprise all the information needed for even a rookie cook to turn out a lovely meal. The book also contains helpful tips like how to use garlic and practical ways to cook everything from seafood to pizza.

Italian-infused recipes like polpettini (mini-meatballs), raviolo al'uovo (ricotta nestled egg yolk) and porchetta emphasize Burrell's penchant for Italian cuisine, while seasonal dishes like pumpkin soup and maple-pumpkin bread pudding are already on our autumn menu. Despite the complicated sounding names, the recipes all feature accessible ingredients and they are written simply, with explanations for each step in layman's terms, guaranteed to produce a rock star meal for even the novice cook!

We've loved the recipes we've tried and have bookmarked many more to add to our repertoire in the next few weeks!

Cook Like a Rock Star is available on for $15.98.
