Who says you can't find inspiration from your child's fits. I have been caught in the clothing battle many times as was father and fashion designer Michael Jarvela who grew tired of daily power-struggles and tantrums with his kids over getting dressed. As a 20-year veteran of the fashion industry including the Gap, Banana Republic, Express and Club Monaco, Michael decided to create Frank & Lu., a line that focuses on comfortable yet stylish clothing with a modern muted palette.
The collection, which launched in November, consists of simple modern pieces such as flight jackets, skinny chinos, and sweater knit dresses '?? all with a nod to high style, and built-in softness. Conspicuously absent from the line are the pinks, purples, monster trucks and pirates that dominate the children'??s clothing market. Frank & Lu apparel, which favors a muted palette and has an urban edginess, is available for boys and girls size 2-14.
I had the chance to dress my almost five-year-old in some of their clothing and I instantly loved the soft and light weight fabrics. She tried the gorgeous Rib Thermal Henley Sweater Dress that was the perfect mix of style, color, texture and functionality. Since she adores wearing dresses, I loved that it keeps her warm along with the Rib (Boot Sock) Leggings that is perfect for winter. I also love the focus on fashion that is apparent throughout the line. Some favorites being the Washed Leather Moto Jacket, theRib Thermal Skirt - Oat Heather/Grey Stripe, the Cotton Cashmere Shawl Cardi-Lather and the Cotton Cashmere Duo Stripe Hoody Sweater - Black/Grey - all of which are simple and classic with no logos or scratchy materials. The focus is about making getting dressed less fussy, and providing families with comfortable and modern clothing for the kids.
With a motto like, '??Big Fashion for Little People," Frank & Lu makes it easy for your kids to wear clothing über-cool and minimalist clothing with comfort in mind and making the morning routine just a little easier.
