I love the idea of simple and creative toys. One of our favorites is Makedo, an Australian-based company, that focuses on products that transforms everyday and recycled materials into amazing play objects like a car, robot or plane.
Created by Melbourne designer Paul Justin who, after leaving the corporate world and setting up a studio overlooking his backyard, was inspired by his children to invent Makedo. Wanting to nurture their creativity, Justin conceived of the idea to fuse design, creative play and sustainability. With that, Makedo was born.
Through this system kids can get active and busy as they create with their hands while facilitating unstructured play, leading international design media to dub it '??Lego for the next generation.'??

This includes a safe-saw for cutting and punching through materials safely; re-clips, lock-hinges for connecting and a Find & Make, Freeplay and Cup Critter ranges. Find & Make is guided, project-based creativity, with creations such as a make a robot, plane or cars. The Find & Make kits also include themed decorative stickers, illustrated step-by-step instructions and an inspiration poster. Freeplay is creatively open-ended and leaves the imagination in total control of what and how to make. Makedo'??s Cup Critter is a complete activity for young kids who can easily transform the coffee cup packaging into a cute creature using Makedo parts and supplied decorations.
Already a hit with kids across the globe, Makedo is now retailing in over 40 countries. Makedo has already recently earned several awards in the U.S., including Parent'??s Choice Silver Honor, Parenting Magazine'??s Best in Play 2012 and Dr. Toy'??s Best Green Product,
