Drive-In Dinner at the Brooklyn Brewery

Date nights are a dime a dozen, but definitely a much-needed as a way to check-in with my husband and relax for a few hours. I feel guilty and exhausted leading up to them but once I am finally out with my husband there is a brief sense of calm as we get to enjoy each others company. We recently experienced a different night out by going to the Brooklyn Brewery for a fun Drive-in Dinner. Having visited Brooklyn Brewery several times pre-kids, I was excited to check out this drive-in concept that included five food trucks that was paired with five different beers from the brewery.

Upon entry I loved looking at the gigantic beer kegs where this craft beer is made. My husband and I were given a ticket that showed five images of food trucks - explaining the menu and the beer that it would pair with. I started with the Red Hook Lobster Pound truck where I got a mini lobster BLT with Chipotle Mayo. We then went back to the brewery and waiting online to get our Sorachi Ale beers. This paired amazingly well - as the spice in the sandwich complimented the flavorful and rich beer. We did this a few more times - sampling food from Bongo Brothers Cuban Food Truck, Feed Your Hole, The Morris Truck and finally some delicious ice cream sandwiches from Coolhaus. I only had about two more beers - they are only 4oz -their signature Brooklyn Lager and the Brooklyn Brown Ale- both of which were rich in flavor and aroma. Delicious and high-quality hops that this mama loved - along with her company.

Not only supplying to Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Brewery is currently distributed in 25 states and 20 countries that is expected to quintuple by 2013. In fact, Brooklyn Brewery exports more beer than any other American craft brewery since they started in 1988. This includes their blend of perennials (Brooklyn Lager, Brooklyn Brown Ale, East India Pale Ale, Brooklyn Pilsner), Seasonals (Brooklyn Winter Ale, Brooklyn Monster Ale, Brooklyn Summer Ale) and Big Bottles (Sorachi Ale, Local 1 and 2, Brooklyn BAM). Additionally, all brewery employees serve on not-for-profit boards, including the Prospect Park Alliance, the Open Space Alliance, Transportation Alternatives and the Brooklyn Historical Society. The company also supports many charitable and arts organizations including BAM, Brooklyn Museum and MoMA, and partners with food purveyors across the country to produce beer dinners and tasting events.

In addition to fun events like this Drive-In Dinner, you can tour the brewery from Monday-Thursday or enjoy Happy Hour on Friday night as well as additional Tours and Tastings on Saturday or Sunday. They are also featuring some fun events in Boston, New Jersey and Upstate New York over the spring and summer months.
