My daughter goes through phases of being super picky where pasta usually rules our dinnertime rountine to being open to trying new foods like when she ate a handful of raw kale!?! I try not to "freak out" about her carb loving ways, since she is, after all, only four and palates change. I do want to encourage her to get excited about new food, specifically healthy food, so I take to various blogs to get inspired and try test out new recipes. Here are some of my favorite blogs that cater to the infamous picky eater.
BabyBites. Created by Nonna Joann Bruso, this blog isn't neccessarily focused on recipes, but includes a comprehensive list of resources and articles covering topics like how to transform a picky eater to articles on how play can transform mealtime conflict into an enjoyable multi-sensory experiences. There is also a store that features books like Transforming A Picky Eater Into A Healthy Eater Book that can help a picky eater try new foods all by themselves.
The Mama Maven. Created by Nancy Horn, this fun lifestyle blog covers her personal stories and recipe through her own experiences with her son, Ben, who was a very picky eater. My personal favorite is her yummy Udon Soup recipe that incorporates baby carrots, celery, tofu, and udon noodles for a delicious and healthy option for lunch or dinner.
In Erika's Kitchen. As a mom who really makes a little bit of everything, I look to her blog to get new ideas for bean dishes, beef, fish and breakfast ideas. I really love her Baked Tilapia dish that incorporates tomatoes, olives, lemon and artichokes. My daughter loves this dish - sans the artichokes - but I meet her half-way with this one - especially since she is eating a heart-healthy fish.
Best Ever Nut Bread from The Picky Eater
The Picky Eater: A Healthy Food Blog. Created by Anjali, this blog covers her adventures with cooking as well as making it "easy, tasty, and fun." One of my favorite recipe is her Healthy and Delicious Banana Nut bread that I love to prepare (and devour) with my daughter.
