Every year, Pantone announces the color that will represent the next year'??s vibe. They'??re pretty on track...with my life anyway. The year we got married was Sand Dollar, a calming color that could really represent how calm our lives become once we found each other. The year we had our spicy little daughter it was Chili Pepper. Last year was a bright and cheery honeysuckle that was supposed to lift spirits. Since it was also the year I turned a new decade, that entire cheery thing didn'??t happen. Well, at least they tried.
They just announced last week that the 2013 color of the year is Emerald Green (Pantone 17-5641, to be exact). It'??s sophisticated. Radiant. Lush. An elegant color brings a sense of well-being, balance and harmony. With centuries of cultures considering this shade of green the color of beauty, new life, renewal and prosperity, I say let'??s run with it.
Here are a few ways to set the tone of 2013 in this luminous color. In true form every year, Sephora + Pantone get together for limited edition color sets dedicated to this pop of Pantone. Let's see what others have in store...
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Liner in Diamond Lagoon Green: I've been a huge fan of MUFE's line since...forever. This waterproof liquid eyeliner color (also known as #4) is vibrant and once you commit to its bold green color, you're in it to win it. It offers impeccable hold through tears, water and smudging. The foam-tip applicator resembles a makeup brush handle, so it's easy to hold and apply.
Nails Inc Emerald Nail Jewelry in Piccadilly Arcade: Once again this fashion-forward London polish company nails it with a sparkly polish. This revolutionary formula has been created with hand-cut particles creating faceted fragments that dazzle like precious stones.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Covet: Make them green with ency with this creamy waterproof eyeliner in the year'??s hottest hue. Line the inner rim of eyes for a luxe look or smudge above the lash line for a more seductive and covetable effect.
ELLE Cosmetics Eyeshadow #17: You can use this emerald shade of velvet shadow for either a soft look or an intense metallic sweep of bright color. It's very light, so it blends quite easily.
L'??Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Endless Sea: One of the first 24-hour formulas in the mass marketplace, this velvet-soft emerald shadow blends easily and you'll get an endless sea of compliments.
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Moss: From a thin line to a bold, dramatic swoop, the marker-like tip on this easy-glide liner makes it easy to create an emerald eye with one stroke.
