A mommy friend of mine recently started a workout class in the downtown NYC area called Beach Baby Fitness. Beach Baby Fitness is a pre and post-natal fitness program that was created to teach women how to stay in shape during pregnancy and how to get back in shape after giving birth. The instructor, Solange is a physical therapist specializing in women's health, pregnancy, and post-partum rehabilitation. The Mommy and Me Core Conditioning class helps you to build core strength, improve your posture, and get your body back in shape both inside and out post-partum. Also, there is great strengthening for pregnancy with appropriate modifications given, which is perfect for me.
Classes are held at Gymboree in Tribeca, which is perfect for babies and toddlers who can play on the gym equipment. A babysitter helps during the class to watch the children. I try to get to class at least one time a week with my daughter. The exercise program has been wonderful for me because it allows Siella to play in the gym while I enjoy my workout. Beach Baby Fitness has been the perfect exercise program for me. Even though it is not a cardio based program and I rarely sweat, I feel the benefits the days following the class. I also feel amazing after the classes and always get a burst of energy, which is exactly what I need in toting two other children around.
