I took my daughter to see Mary Poppins yesterday. One of the many benefits of being a city mom is having Broadway in my "backyard"--and I was wowed by this performance. My nugget was perhaps a bit on the young side (the thunder in one number freaked her out)--but for ages 5 and up this is a winner. The costumes and sets are astounding and the two kiddie actors were spot-on (nothing worse that a child actor over-emoting!). All the old songs came right back to me (from the Julie Andrews movie) and the new additions fit in seamlessly.
Here's how to save. Between now and December 12 visit the Disney Kids Go Free site to buy tickets. For every adult ticket purchased, a child under 18 gets a free ticket. The applicable performance dates run from January 6 to March 13, 2009. Shows include Mary Poppins, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. I've seen two out of the three (saw The Lion King in 2002 and it rocks!) and can tell you Disney + kids + NYC = one memorable trip. So if you are thinking about New York, do it! Buy tickets now and get ready to have a great time.
