I've now seen Manchester Vermont in all four seasons, and I've got to say, it's hard to pick my favorite. But after a recent fall weekend spent shopping the Manchester Designer Outlets and touring the Manchester area, I'm pretty smitten with autumn in Southern Vermont. Check out how we planned the perfect fall weekend in Manchester, Vermont
Isn't it fabulous! Manchester Designer Outlets are home to over 40 outlet shops, featuring iconic brands like Tumi, New Balance, Le Cruset and more. And they are home to the one and only Marimekko outlet in the US! The shopping is tucked into the valley of the Vermont mountains and set on manicured streets. It's the type of place where you can always find convenient parking--the charm factor is HUGE!
The stores all have great inventory and look just like full-price stores. The staff is friendly and helpful and all the fashion is right on trend. For more tips on shopping the Manchester Designer Outlets visit this post.

Fall Activities in Manchester Vermont
Farming is a big part of Vermont's DNA. Manchester has a great farmer's market and loads of local produce. Of course there's apple picking in early fall, but in October, it's all about the pumpkins.
On our visit to the Equinox Nursery we really got into the spirit of the season. First we got a tour of the farm. It's been in the same family for 40 years. We saw all the local produce (including the corn fields and pumpkin patches) as well as the fall flowers. The mums were glorious.
Our tour was on foot and on tractor. We bought tickets for the tractor ride to take in the views of Mount Equinox. This area is part of the Green Mountains and it's stunning.
After the tractor, we made our way through the corn maze. It's not scary at all and perfectly appropriate for tots.
Of course any fall visit to a farm has to include treats like fresh cider and piping hot apple donuts. I indulged in both. A huge thank you to our hosts at Equinox farms for this great visit.

I've had some great meals in Manchester. This trip included some favorites and some new experiences.
Depot 62: It's all about the wood-fire oven. Come here to fill up on pizzas and Mediterranean fare. The setting is a cool furniture store packed with Turkish rugs and quirky accent pieces. 515 Depot St, Manchester Center, VT 05255 Phone: (802) 366-8181
Barrows House: Southern Vermont Hotel & Inn: We had an amazing dinner here. Enter into a lively bar area and head to the large, yet warm dining room. I had a delish Brussels sprout salad to start and divine piece of salmon. Fun Fact: Barrows House is Vermont's oldest continuously operating inn (established In 1796).
