About six months ago I was on a subway train an spotted my first Bakugan. I was mesmerized. A young boy twitched and twirled a little ball of plastic and out popped a dragony thing. So cool! I observed as he carefully folded the the toy back into a ball and tucked it into his pocket.
Bakugan Battle Brawlers are action-figure warriors, that are tucked into spheres that pop open when they're rolled onto a game card (they can also be popped open with a nail or paperclip). There is a TV component to be sure, but I like the mobility of these little warriors. If you want a gift for a boy ages 4+ this will be a winner.
Toys 'R' Us sent me Helios a 7-in-1 toy that turns into a massive monster. This super-cool toy has seven little "marbles" that combine into one: Helios, Scraper, Klawgor, Foxbat, Fencer, Leefram and Spindle. Each of the 7 Bakugan marbles also can do battle individually, giving kids a variety of options to help them excel in Bakugan, which combines trading card game play with collectible marbles (Momtrends likes this better than the TV element). Collect all the Bakugan for the ultimate Bakugan Battle Brawl (cards and additional Bakugan pieces sold separately). ($44.99)
