Cute Striped Summer Dresses

Cute Striped Summer Dresses

I’m always on the hunt for cute striped summer dresses — they are easy to dress up and a great way to get ready in a flash this summer. With a summer dress like this one (which is under $100!), you can head to just about any party. Add just a few accessories and you’ve turned one piece into an outfit.

Cute Striped Summer Dresses

Let’s start with the cabi dress. It’s a light weight silky fabric in a cut that fits every figure (and it looks especially good if you have a lot of curves). The Knot Dress is fully lined and hits just above the knee–and guess what? Pockets!

Roberta Roller Rabbit Paola Big Fold Over Clutch

I added a fun new striped bag from Roberta Roller Rabbit. Fringe is a big trend right now and this fuzzy bag is loads of fun. The safe way to wear it is with a white t-shirt and jean shorts, but I’m pushing the boundaries a bit and pairing stripes with stripes.  The Paola Big Fold Over Clutch could be the perfect party bag for your summer. And unlike dinky little clutches, this one can hold a lot more than just a lip gloss and your phone.

Here it is all pulled together. This striped dress is ready to go out on the town.

And the shoes, oh the shoes. Cabi introduced shoes this year and I am loving the Isla Wedge — it is right on-trend. I love the wedge heel, that I can dance in and walk in. It’s a shoe that I’m giving lots of “play time” right now.

Head here to find out more about cabi and to find a local stylist. Cabi is a brand that brings the stylists to you. Your stylist will not only outfit you, she’ll show you how to reinvent your look. Once you go cabi, you’ll never go back to the mall.

Fun Prints for Kids and Moms

Prints are kinda my family’s jam. My kids couldn’t help but fall in love with them thanks to my obsession. Bwah! I’ve been decking them out in fabulous prints since they were infants. I’m talking florals, plaids, stripes, you name it…we love it! And this spring and summer will be no different. We will be rockin’ our favorite fun prints on the regular.

I’ve always subscribed to the school of thought that you should have fun with your clothes. And if your kids are having fun with THEIR clothes, it will be a whole lot easier to get them dressed! In fact, we found some oh-so fun prints for kids and moms recently that perked us all up! And just in case you’ve been looking to add some new prints to your family’s wardrobes, I decided to share our new favorite fashion finds with you.

Let’s talk about the kids first, because, let’s face it, there isn’t much that’s cuter than coordinating kids’ looks. Am I right? And something we love even more than wearing fun prints alone is print mixing. How adorable are the floral print dress, plaid shirt and pastel shorts from Gap? And the glitter bedecked sandals and slide-on sneakers are perfect warm-weather wears too! They actually wore these outfits for my parent’s country club’s annual Easter egg hunt, but they would be perfect for any spring or summer occasion.

And mama had to coordinate with her kiddos too, right? On that note, I paired my cheerful print maxi dress (I linked to a similar one from Gap) with statement turquoise rings because I pretty much try to work them into every single outfit I can. Haha! Plus, they’re just too perfect for this time of year. Frankly, I wear turquoise all year long, but it goes particularly well with traditional warm-weather hues like the orange, red, coral, pink etc. that you saw in this post!

So, there you have it…I hope you enjoyed my family’s take on fun prints. Now go forth and print mix yourselves lovelies!

Two Ways to Wear Metallic Sandals

Being that fall is nearly here, I’m wearing my summer sandals as much as I possibly can. Don’t get me wrong…I love my fall boots, but there is something so freeing about slipping on an easy breezy pair of sandals. Plus, I get to show off my pedi. Haha! The ease of slides is something I’ve really been enjoying this summer and one of my favorite pairs of slide sandals has to be these ergonomic Vionic Jura sandals that I picked up at Sole Provisions. Not only are they a perfect silver that goes with nearly everything, but they’re ridiculously comfortable. Just sayin’. Since metallic sandals have been my summer jam, so I thought it would be fun to show you two ways to wear them!

traveler pants

The first way I rocked my metallic sandals is with a simple black CAbi tee and they’re oh so versatile traveler pant. I can’t tell you how many ways these bad boys can be worn. Olive pants are so versatile…much like metallic sandals. Thanks to the bit of glam that the sandals brought to my simple look, I needed little more to accessorize it than my trusty African  bead necklace.

Tipsy 3

Tipsy 2

Tipsy 1

My next look is decidedly more casual and a bit cheeky…just like me. Haha! My Dream Team tank top can be found at Tipsy Elves, along with a slew of other hilarious tees. It’s proven to be one of my go-to summer pieces. And it was obviously the perfect thing to wear when I was cheering on Team USA! So much is going on up top, I simply added my favorite turquoise bracelet and a cowboy hat to Bermuda shorts and the metallic sandals.

So, if you too have some sandals that you’d like squeeze a bit more wear out of, I hope this helped give you some more styling options.

Monday Mingle: Favorite Summer Accessory Trends

Monday Mingle Denim for Summer

White jeans. Can’t get enough of them! Right now they work with so much I want to wear. So wear them I do! My go-to pair is from MircaleBody Jeans. I grabbed my friend and headed to the water to show you the competed One World Trade Center in the background. Here’s a look at the view from the top a little later in the day. Isn’t it stunning?

view from one world trade

I will write more about the trip into One World Trade, but I had to share this view. Now let’s talk fashion. The top is from Paris. The store Berenice exists everywhere except the USA. I loved the gold dots. And as long as my arms look good, I’m going sleeveless ladies!

summer fun fashion

But enough about a top you likely can’t get. Let’s talk about stuff you can get your hands on. Like these summer accessories.

summer accessories

jonathan adler sunglasses

Yes indeed, I’m having fun with my accessories. My new sunnies are from Jonathan Adler. This Santorini pair is taking the translucent trend in the right direction. Jonathan Adler’s eyewear collection is bang on.

summer bucket bag from toms

Let’s talk bags. I have been weighed down by the totes I carry. So this summer I vow to lighten up. The Mocha Jetset Bucket from Toms‘ is perfect for a day of touring. The color is quite versatile and the bag carries all the essentials I need. And it’s all about shopping for a cause. With every bag you purchase, TOMS will help provide a safe birth for a mother and baby in need. One for One®. Check out the details.

And yes, I’m still wearing my Metallic Michael Kors Warren Wedge Sandals. If the trend isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

H&M Summer Style

HM kdds

This is how I like to spend my weekends–outdoors having fun with my girls. This weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day, we’ll be once again having giggles and jump rope lessons on our roof. And it’ll be s stylish affair thanks to the fresh summer fashions from H&M.

H&M kids

To celebrate Mother’s Day, I put together this H&M collaboration of favorite things. My girls and I share a love of fashion. We love details and we love trends. H&M Kids is the perfect place to stay up on what’s cool–by the way, the answer to that is embellished denim and rompers!

cute sun hat for girls

My littlest one loves hats, I found this woven hat that she’s bananas about. The girl loves her accessories and H&M is an excellent place to find them. The lace trimmed denim shorts are a crowd-pleaser. And the sunny lemon-print top fits her personality perfectly.

cute romper for girls

My older fashionista literally squealed when she saw this floral romper. And yes, she likes to strike a pose (no idea where she got that from!?!?!). H&M has tons of jumpsuits and rompers it’s a style I 100% give the Momtrends seal of approval. Head to for these styles and more www.hm.com/us/

jumping rope

What about mom? Mostly I’m happy when they’re happy. But ladies, this is our special weekend. For Mother’s Day gifting, you can’t go wrong with a gift card to H&M. I headed right to the denim collection. I wanted some new denim shorts (these are higher waisted) and a new jean jacket (I lost my last one–sigh). I think this outfit would be great to give or get.

H&M Denim, denim trends

In addition to the homemade cards and family harmony, I will admit to loving being celebrated with gifts on Mother’s Day. A few more of my favorite things? I think my family knows me pretty well. A large iced tea, a few sweet macarons (yes, I’ll share), a new book, fresh flowers a gift card to shop H&M and some time to do yoga. These are things that make me smile.

great gifts for mom

Wishing you all the happiest Mother’s Day weekend–full of giggles, fort building, jump rope and some of YOUR favorite things.

Labor Day Style

summer fashion staples

I’m predicting that many of you are busy enjoying this holiday with family and friends, but I still wanted to be sure that Monday Mingle was there for you! Since it’s a time for family and picnics, that’s what I am sharing. My 9 year old photographer snapped these images before we headed out to our party yesterday.

Not much new to report. These are all summer staples. The sunny Birkenstocks, the cut-offs, the air-dry hair. This has been my summer style.

birkenstocks

The shorts are Citizen of Humanity and I think I have worn them 90+ times this summer. Same for the Birks. The crochet sweater is OLD and from Lauren by Ralph Lauren.

tjmaxx necklace

The one new piece is the necklace. It’s a score from TJMaxx. $5 for this $110 necklace from Llydell NYC.

I hope you are wearing something sunny and fun on this last summer hurrah. Lots of great fashion coverage for fall is underway, but for now, I’ll embrace the summer staples.

Styling a Floral Maxi Dress for Summer

floral maxi dress for summer

Summer fashion is so easy: Dress, sandals, GO! Is there anything better than a floral dress in a bright color to embrace this time of year? I think not.

This French Connection dress packs a LOT punch. It’s got bold color and a fun swishy cut. I saw it at an event for RewardStyle that I attended here in Brooklyn. One of the marketing team members from French Connection was wearing this dress and I was smitten.

Good luck came my way. At the end of the event French Connection gave all the bloggers a $100 gift card to shop. I made a beeline for the Soho store and purchased the dress the next day (I had to spend a little more–the dress was $250 total when I bought it). It’s so easy to wear and makes me happy. Shop for the Poppy Maxi here (it’s on sale now for $150–you’ll pay $100 less than I did!) Look for me to be wearing this in San Jose this week as i head out to BlogHer.

summer dress styled with wedges

Isn’t fashion supposed to make us happy? Remember, this is the time of year to simplify. Less makeup, no layers and no apologies for doing what makes you feel great. I for one, think flip flops go with almost everything.

silver earrings

Once you have the just-right dress, the accessories are a snap. I added an old pair of Calypso earrings (shop similar here) and an old pair of wedges (love them so!–find similar here Via Spiga Weges) and done. Since this dress has pockets, I ended up putting my phone in my pocket and didn’t carry a bag. Usually in the summer, I try not to carry bags. I give my phone and lip gloss to Mr. Momtrends we go out or find a tiny little bag to stash my essentials.

Gold and pink french manicure

One last note on the nails. I saw a pin from Vera Sweeney a few months ago and became obsessed with the gold French manicure trend. I took the photo in to my local manicure spot and loved the result. I’ve got a new go-to mani!

Too Old for Denim Shorts

styling denim shorts

Time to rock the boat a bit with fashion. We’re talking about denim shorts. I’ve seen fashion posts popping up taking the view that denim shorties are only for the young. Well, I work hard to keep the body together, and I kind of think I’ve earned the right to go short.

What do you think?

I say…

yes mural in DUMBO

Couldn’t resist shooting in DUMBO near this mural. As for the jeans, this pair is from AG Adriano Goldschmied. The shorts have a 14″ rise, which is short, but you don’t have to go this short to embrace the trend.

summer fashion tiips

Since the shorts are kind of a statement, I simply added a white tee (shop similar from Velvet) and a bright necklace. I get so many compliments on it. I picked it up from BaubleBar at an event, I paid $35 (you are in luck–it is on sale right now for $20 here)! It comes in tons of colors, but I picked PINK!

bauble bar necklace

Finally the shoes. I picked these up in Nice on our anniversary trip. The iridescent color seems to “go” with so many things.

cool sandals

Time to find out what you’ve been wearing!
