BarePro Powder Foundation Review

BarePro Powder Foundation Review

Don’t you love when your skin feels naked and clean yet has a lovely finish? That’s what you get with the new BarePro Performance Foundation from bareMinerals. The skincare experts at bareMinerals have engineered a foundation that gives me 12 hours of coverage without looking heavy or sitting in my fine lines.

I started testing this product last July when they sent me a sample. I used it non-stop thru November and then found it wasn’t moisturizing enough for the winter. I switched back to the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue I had been using during the winter (it’s more moisturizing).  But now that spring is here, I’ve switched back to this powder formula and I’m ready to share my thoughts.

It’s really easy to use and if you don’t love playing with makeup, you can’t overdo this. It’s a “cake-free foundation” that won’t look overdone. Yet you get a nice full coverage and like all things bareMinerals it’s formulated with 90% vitamins and minerals.

Pick from 30 “true-to-you” colors, to match your skin. To apply, they recommend the bareMinerals BAREPRO Core Coverage Brush ($30), but I think you can apply it with just about any dense foundation brush. The bareMinerals BAREPRO Core Coverage Brush is retractable and works well–but I prefer an even longer handle. With your favorite brush, sweep the product onto your face and then start with a light dusting. Layer on a bit more for more coverage.

I’m wearing just the foundation and mascara in this shot. I feel like my skin shines through–the mark of a good product. As always, I test everything we talk about. In fact, I sat on this review for months. As time went on, I liked this product more and more. Get the scoop in my review video:

Note the two downsides: One, if you have dry skin, this may not be for you. Two, there is no SPF in this product. You’ll need to use a moisturizer with SPF in if before you apply this product.

BAREPRO Performance Base Powder is $30 and is available at bareMinerals and you can buy it here at Sephora.

Product Crush: Natural Makeup

As we’ve been focusing on living a greener lifestyle in our house, I’ve found myself wanting to add more and more natural products to my life…And that includes beauty products. One such natural beauty product that I recently tried out is VirginN Makeup. VirginN is an anti-aging mineral makeup that is made without the use of cheap fillers. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin and is even water resistant making it a favorite of fitness enthusiasts and more!

In fact, I had the chance to ask yoga expert, Kristin McGee, why she’s a faithful VirginN user and her answers just might make you want to run up and pick yourself up some of this innovative mineral makeup STAT!

Momtrends: As a yoga expert, I’m sure you’re very focused on wellness and are particular about what goes on your skin. What makes this makeup special?

Kristin: That it truly has no fillers and is made with pure ingredients as well as 18 active amino acids that promote healthy skin.

Momtrends: How long have you been using it? Have you noticed a difference in your skin since you started using VirginN versus other makeup?

Kristin: Over a year and yes I’ve noticed a difference. My skin is less irritated, more even in tone and feels nourished!

Momtrends: Since it’s so lightweight, is this the kind of makeup you would consider wearing during a workout?

Kristin: 100% I wear it during workouts and also photo shoots where I’m doing fitness moves.

Now that I’ve given you the skinny on what I’m leaving right now, it’s time to head over to our partners Janise of Mama in Heels, Jo-Lynne of Jo-Lynne Shayne and Alison of Sassy Moms in the City to see what they’re buzzin’ about!
