Two Ways to Wear Metallic Sandals

Being that fall is nearly here, I’m wearing my summer sandals as much as I possibly can. Don’t get me wrong…I love my fall boots, but there is something so freeing about slipping on an easy breezy pair of sandals. Plus, I get to show off my pedi. Haha! The ease of slides is something I’ve really been enjoying this summer and one of my favorite pairs of slide sandals has to be these ergonomic Vionic Jura sandals that I picked up at Sole Provisions. Not only are they a perfect silver that goes with nearly everything, but they’re ridiculously comfortable. Just sayin’. Since metallic sandals have been my summer jam, so I thought it would be fun to show you two ways to wear them!

The first way I rocked my metallic sandals is with a simple black CAbi tee and they’re oh so versatile traveler pant. I can’t tell you how many ways these bad boys can be worn. Olive pants are so versatile…much like metallic sandals. Thanks to the bit of glam that the sandals brought to my simple look, I needed little more to accessorize it than my trusty African  bead necklace.

My next look is decidedly more casual and a bit cheeky…just like me. Haha! My Dream Team tank top can be found at Tipsy Elves, along with a slew of other hilarious tees. It’s proven to be one of my go-to summer pieces. And it was obviously the perfect thing to wear when I was cheering on Team USA! So much is going on up top, I simply added my favorite turquoise bracelet and a cowboy hat to Bermuda shorts and the metallic sandals.

So, if you too have some sandals that you’d like squeeze a bit more wear out of, I hope this helped give you some more styling options.

Chic and Off the Shoulder: How to Wear the Summer Trend

off the shoulder 2This post is supposed to be about finding a stylish off the shoulder dress… But, really, it’s also about finding the perfect strapless bra.

You see, until recently, my sartorial options were extremely limited due to an unfortunate undergarment void. After having my second child, nursing, and experiencing an ever-evolving cup size, I was having a reallyl hard time finding a strapless bra that was both supportive and flattering. No matter where I went shopping or how many corset-like contraptions I tried on, it was a no-go.

You have to understand how this lack of functional lingerie would affect a fairly ample-chested gal’s style repertoire. It effectively eliminated the option of spaghetti straps and cut-outs—and anything without straps was immediately taken off the table. So, when I finally, miraculously, and unexpectedly found the right strapless bra to suit my needs, I was beyond excited for all the new outfit opportunities!

But enough about my bra trials and tribulations… Let’s talk about one of my favorite summer trends: the off the shoulder top/dress. It’s such a subtly sexy way to show some bronzed skin. (Bonus, it’s an easy way to avoid tan lines!)

off the shoulder 1I found this navy tasseled off the shoulder number and immediately fell in love. The dress drapes beautifully and is loose and flowing (as are most off the shoulder styles) so it’s forgiving and comfortably breezy on hot sunny days. It’s playful, beachy, and boho-chic. I paired it with a pair of metallic platform sandals and an oversize Jana Feifer hot-pink python bag (which fits everything but the kitchen sink!). How effortlessly cool is this outfit?

To celebrate my sassy new style and the flirtatious fashion trend, I’ve rounded up a few more fabulous off the shoulder finds. This summer, I’m all about giving the cold shoulder—or rather, the cold shoulders.

Mommy and Me Summer Sundresses

It was in the mid nineties here in Florida today…Yep, you heard me right. I know it might not be quite that warm yet in your neck of the woods yet, but those brutal summer temps will be here before you know it. I promise! So, now is the time to stock up on summer wardrobe staples like sundresses. My lil’ lady bean and I both have large and in charge sundress collections.

I find myself turning to them more often than shorts in the sweltering heat because they’re cooler and all I need to put together a pretty outfit in no time flat is said sundress, a statement necklace and a pair of sandals…And the same goes for my daughter, save for the statement necklace. She has a few of her own, but she always ends up tossing them aside after a few minutes of wear. Haha!

Since we both love our dresses, I have fun styling coordinating mommy and me looks for the two of us to step out in. Not matching outfits necessarily, but ones featuring coordinating colors. For today’s featured looks, for instance, I went with midi length sundresses, orange accents and metallic sandals.

Matilda Jane recently sent me a lovely flowy frock from their new women’s collection and it went perfectly with a little jungle print number that I picked up for my daughter at Target. Our gold sandals and my multi colored beaded necklace pulled everything together.
