Syncing Your Style: Styling Looks with Faux Fur

The cold is upon us here in NY and nothing says HOT while it's cold, like faux fur. I have seen this trend everywhere, adding a bit of richness and all things cozy to sweaters, jackets and the latest trend...accessories. Now ladies, faux fur can get real bad, real quick if you're not careful. You'll need to choose the placement of the fur so that it is complimentary not distracting, fashionable not trapper-esque, and most of all...flattering. Think of faux fur as the dessert to your outfit not the main event. I also don't recommend covering yourself in fur. Got on your fur boots? Go plain from there, as in skinny jeans, classic t and cascading sweater, and save the fur vest for another day, another outfit. No mixing and matching fur for this mama! One piece is enough to say, "I've got good fashion sense," beyond that you'll risk falling into "I've just come back from the iditarod competition."

As a resident green mama, you know I am favoring faux fur options, and I have found many. I am most excited about Faux Fur sweaters as I think we are all familiar and comfortable wearing fur collared coats. Fur trapper hats are cute, if you can pull off the look, me? Doesn't work, I look like I should be offering to clear your driveway. Although the two trend-setting hats I found (featured below) will keep you looking tres chic with the added bonus of warmth!

Additional accessories included some adorable fur coated headphones (take a peek below) that I thought would make an adorable gift for the teen or preteen on your list!

I also tried this fabulous hobo bag on at H &M. At first, I hated it and thought it was SO tacky! Then I tried it, carried around a bit and thought it would be a fun way to sass up an everyday outfit, try out the faux fur, but not really commit to it (the bag was under $20.)

After all the hunting, the look this season is faux fur accented sweaters. I love how easily these sweaters can be worn to work, out to the movies, dinner or for date night. The faux fur dresses up the sweater, is stylish, lets you rock the trend without being too trendy, and lets you explore faux fur beyond the traditional.

Faux Fur will keep you toasty warm, all while looking like an adorable (not to mention sexy) snow queen.
