Syncing Your Style: A Few of My Favorite Things

The holidays are upon us and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things.

By far my new favorite item is this GORGEOUS custom made cape. Thunderlily is a NYC-based company and if you're picky about what you wear, this is the perfect site for you. As you peruse the site, you'll see a selection of clothing items, everything from capes, to dresses to stylish blouses. You choose what you love, then Thunderlily works with you to customize it. You pick the fabric, and the color , then give your measurements and the garment is made especially for you. Live in the NYC area? Thunderlily will even take your measurements. Not sure what you like? or how it will look together? The designers at Thunderlily are completely hands on, they are easy to work with, out to please and very talented. The detail and quality of my cape is beautiful. Everything from the fabric, (I chose a navy wool) to the marble buttons to how well it was crafted, is remarkable. I love how it is classic yet has current details like the zig zag button up. It is a sophisticated design, was made just for me! and is something I will wear forever.

A staple in my closet has got to be my GGO classic style wrap dress. The organic bamboo is the softest, the dress wears incredibly well, and I can pair it with tights (choose from the largest online selection by shopping Alex Blake) or leggings like ones I am wearing below, (they are ultra-flattering and body shaping made by Skinny Tees). I can layer it up, and add accessories to change the look. It is versatile, very well made (right here in the USA!), comes in 16 colors and its classic design will never go out of style.

Winters is New York are a balancing act when it comes to fashion. I need to combine warmth, comfort and style all at once, and am not willing to sacrifice any of them! Riding boots are my "got to" shoe of choice and they are basically my winter uniform until the first signs of spring awakening. I invested in a great pair of brown, classic style riding boots over 10 years ago. I take them to get re-heeled when needed, but they are as good as new and I literally wear them every day...well, until recently. I found the most comfortable riding boots ever! The Walking Company houses many brands of shoes and boots of any shapes, sizes and colors. ( You can purchase a style that is just right for you either online or in one of their 200 locations!) I love the black riding boots from Umberto Raffini. The difference between my other riding boots and these is that these have a thick cushion lining and keep my legs and feet toasty warm even when I am only wearing tights. They have three adjustable buckles so I get a perfect fit whether I am wearing skinny jeans, my Skinny Tees leggings or tights. I can walk for hours in them and never feel uncomfortable. The leather is soft yet durable, and the boots are as fashionable as they are functional. LOVE!

I am committed to learning new ways to raise my children in a healthy and natural way. Living in a green way has always been something I am passionate about and last year, my husband surprised me with this gorgeous necklace from Brilliant Earth. This sapling necklace is a reminder of why I make the choices I do, keeps me motivated when the green fatigue sets in and tells a little story about who I am. Brilliant Earth strives to source ethically harvested metal, diamonds and jewels.

I have written before about our no shoes policy and just how much I hate having cold feet. I always wear socks, no matter what, but having a house with only hard wood floors, can be dangerous for a Klutzy girl like me. More than once I have slipped while carrying one of my children, yikes.  I also also am the queen multi-tasker, so as I making coffee, feeding the dog and realize the recycling needs to go out, I run outside (yes, in my socks!) What's a girl to do? Enter UGG sheepskin slippers. If you are looking for the perfect indoor slipper, look no further. They wear like a shoe, are super comfortable, have a no slip (skid) sole and are have a super soft, incredibly warm sheepskin lining. I love the simple and classic design, I love that when I need to dash down the driveway to grab something out of my car, I can keep my feet warm, avoid my soggy sock conundrum and be comfortable all at the same time. They can be purchased HERE or in any The Walking Company Stores & they come in 11 fabulous colors!

A great sweater is also a must have to endure the winters in NY, but somehow I can never find one that is not too bulky, is versatile as well as comfortable. I need the warmth of the sweater but like the convenience of layering so that I am prepared for a morning at the park or an afternoon in the library. Peeling off layers is not only unattractive, it is hard to do when you're minding two preschoolers. That's why I love my open front, draped cardigan sweater by Cabi. I learned about Cabi over the summer during BLOGHER (check out our recap of the party here).

At first, I was hesitant to try the sweater, it seemed bulky, and I wasn't sold on the grey color. But after I tried it on, I changed my mind and now this sweater is just another piece of winter uniform. I wear it over knit dresses, with skinny jeans and a tee, or paired with a chambray shirt. It surprisingly goes with everything, wears well, easily add style and is as comfortable as it is warm. I get complimented on it every time wear it .

I was not compensated for this post. I did recieve some samples of some of the items mentioned above yet all opinions are my own.

Happy Holidays!
