Monday Mingle: Spring Capsule Wardrobe
I've created 10 fresh spring outfits out of 10 pieces of spring clothing to create a capsule wardrobe. Most of the clothing is under $100 and some of it I already owned. The idea is to build a wardrobe the mixes and matches and works for you. Today's outfit features:
AG denim skirt | Olive Tank | hoodie cardigan | boots
To review, here are the ten pieces:
Here are the 10 pieces with links:
1. Distressed Jeans
2. Olive Tank
3. AG denim A-line skirt
4. Calypso St. Barth hoodie cardigan
5. Splendid tie-dye tee
6. Splendid Black t-shirt
7. LOFT olive vest
8. White denim shorts
9. Cabi Fresco Dress
10. Cabi white sweater
Do you already own some of these? I bet you do. I tried to make denim a big part of this capsule, thinking that most women already own these pieces. Last week, outfit #1 used the same tank plus the black jeans.
This week, I'm introducing the perfect denim skirt from AG. Denim is very practical for me--I need clothes that are versatile and sturdy--motherhood is messy at times. It's not too long and not too short. It's got a bit of an a-line to make it easy to walk in (and also flattering on the backside). I added a cardigan that I found at Calypso to the outfit because spring in NYC means wildly fluctuating weather.
The pom-poms on this top make it young and fresh. Since I'm always cold inside it's a must have for me.
The fun part of capsule dressing is the ease and then the chance to play with accessories. I added my favorite booties and a cool belt to make this a little more trendy. The booties are everywhere this season, I hope you jump on this trend. As for the belt, this one I found in Paris a while back, but I do find great belts at Anthropologie too. I like buying belts when I travel since they have memories attached and are easy to bring home.
Are you loving this more is less trend? Do you want to create a capsule of your own? It's ideal for simplifying things in the morning and for travel.
And to recap, here are all 10 looks:
