The holidays are approaching and that always gets me amped up about fashion. I love to dress up for holidays and being an expectant mama will not derail that excitement. I had a chance to speak with designer Cecile Renaud, the celebrity designer who fashions clothing for Seraphine Maternity. Her looks have been seen on Kate Middleton, how's that for classic style inspiration?
Syncing Your Style:How do you decide what to showcase for celebs, and how do those styles translate for the everyday mom to be?
Cecile Renaud:Like all women, each celebrity mum has her own individual style which is unique to her, so we approach each celebrity as an individual case when suggesting styles. In the past, many celebrities have opted for stylish evening wear pieces from our Serephine LUXE collection, and our maxi dresses have also been popular. But our award winning range of maternity jeans always go down well with the celebrities. Our jeans are incredibly comfortable, and ultra-stylish - and of course you don’t have to be a Hollywood star to rock a great pair of jeans!
Syncing Your Style: What's the most important element you tie into your maternity fashions?
Cecile Renaud: All of our clothes are designed with your comfort in mind, so we only use the highest quality fabrics, and of course we never compromise on style! Our main priority is to design clothes which allow you to stay to true to your own style, so that you can feel like yourself throughout your trimesters.
Syncing Your Style: Where do you get your inspiration?
Cecile Renaud: I draw a lot of inspiration from my native city of Paris; from fashion shows, and equally from chic styles I see on women in the street. And of course my own two pregnancies were an amazing source of inspiration.

Cecile Renaud:I always encourage women to stay true to their own style through pregnancy. Choose maternity pieces you love, which will help you to feel like yourself.
Here are some looks inspired by Cecile's advice for the modern expecting mama:
Now that the chilly days are here to stay in New York, a coat is part of my everyday style, dressy or casual. For an elegant wool and cashmere blend maternity coat, I am in love with this fully lined one from Seraphine. I love the chic black leather piping that adorns the outside, the vintage chain across the neckline to support it when hanging, and the pockets that are placed in a flattering manner. Even the back is designed to accent your maternal curves and highlight your belly bump. From its classic structured lines, to fitted shoulders and empire waistline, this A line coat is stunning over your favorite dress but will add feminine style to jeans and a sweater.
I love a sheer detail to show off some skin without revealing too much. This LBD from Elm Baby is perfect for expecting mamas, with its sleek lines, and flattering cut, and beautiful arm detail, all you'll notice is your beautiful belly bump.
For a classic style that works on most body types, try an empire waist dress like this one from Envie De Fraises, a brand new to the USA from France. I love the subtle bling detail at the waist, accentuating the baby bump all while giving you plenty of coverage elsewhere. Paired with chic, modern wedge booties like these from Brian James and jazzed up holiday hair, you'll be picture perfect. This flowy nature of this dress will work well postpartum as well (always a plus when purchasing maternity clothes).
For a dressy look that's office to party ready, I love this lined charcoal shift dress from Ingrid & Isabel. I wore it with over the belly, microfiber tights from Fertile Mind, and sleek, wedge Joelle boots from Umberto Raffini Signature for a look that was sophisticated, and polished. Party on the agenda? Pair it with killer heels and some bling and you're good to go.
