Hunstville: A Southern Gem

Huntsville, travel to Huntsville

Recently I had the opportunity to visit beautiful Huntsville, Alabama. Now that I'm back from my little jaunt, I have to wonder...why haven't I been there before? Alabama is just a quick plane ride over from my home town of Tampa, FL, yet it feels like a different world. Devoid of the overly hectic bustle of a larger city, Huntsville has an easy breezy vibe that is extremely relaxing.

When I arrived for my stay at Home2 Suites, I was greeted with an extremely friendly staff in a fabulous, modern lobby area. Complementary coffee was immediately available which, of course, endeared this java lover to the property. My well appointed room was bright and cheery, which instantly put a smile on my face. I was also impressed by the efforts this green property makes on behalf of the environment, right down to a wall mounted shower gel dispenser. Just think of all those mini bottles that won't be thrown away! Little details like that make all the difference to me.

After relaxing in my room for a bit, I felt an itch to get a little retail therapy in and was excited to learn that there was a lovely open air shopping center, the Bridge Street Town Centre, right across from the hotel. Among the fabulous selection of shops I found the BLUE MedSpa and Soho Nails Salon making Huntsville a perfect destination for a girls getaway. What girl doesn't love a good spa/shopping retreat? Did I mention that the hotel will work with you on planning the perfect vacation for you and your girls? They will even bring delicious catered goodies into your rooms should you so desire!

If a girls getaway isn't your cup of tea, consider Hunstville for your next family vacation! On the second day of my trip, I moved over to the Hampton Inn said of the dual branded property. Again, I was met with a nice, comfortable room. The bed was so comfy, in fact, that I didn't want to get up off it. Haha! I'm glad I did, however, because I was able to visit the U.S. Space and Rocket Center which is a totally family friendly place. Your kiddos will go crazy for this place. I promise! I can't wait to take my little guy back! Not only does the U.S. Space and Rocket Center offer day tours, but it's the home of space camp which is open to children and adults alike. To be able to see life size shuttles up close and personal is an amazing experience and one that I highly recommend!

I also recommend that you check out Huntsville's charming downtown. I had the pleasure of dining at Commerce Kitchen while downtown and it's an experience not to be missed. My fried chicken plate was down home and chic at the same time. You foodies will thank me. I promise!

After I got back to the hotel, I was rather full from my time at Commerce Kitchen, so I wandered around the grounds for a bit and was quite impressed with the lovely pool/outdoor lounge area. I could definitely see my family getting a lot of use out of it. Thanks to the wonderful time that I had at the Home2 Suites/Hampton Inn property, I do believe I'll have to take them to Huntsville someday! And now that I've told you what to do in Hunstville, I hope you pay it a visit too.
