Fall is one of our favorite seasons with the changing of the leaves and the start of the holidays. However, the weather can be so unpredictable where one day it is warm and another it is rainy or cold. This past fall I was in the postpartum phase where I found myself in a mix of wearing sweats and nursing bras to going back to work where I found myself "dressing up" again.
For the dressing up part, I was on the hunt for pieces that were comfortable and fashionable as well as those that weren't confining for nursing. I found that in the gorgeous red Au Lait Coming Home Dress. Considered the most "versatile all occasion dress, I loved its super soft light-weight jersey material that beautifully drapes over the body. It hands low in the front and then longer in the back for a fun and simple style that looks elegant and sophistacted. It also features a specially crafted fumble free vents that provides the trademark Au Lait discreet nursing.
Since it was the fall, I had layer up where I opted for the on-trend and fun Princess Vera Wang Fractured Ikat Raglan Sweater. Available at Kohl's this fun pattern was a perfect reflection of my pre-baby style that melded perfectly with this postpartum look. I also loved how the black, white and red looked in this warm weather look that also keep me warm in classic pieces that are all $50 or less!
Fall jackets are't always the easiest to find. There is a short window of time before it gets freezing and you have to rock a puffy coat. The Highline 3/4 Jacket from Icebreaker has been perfect for this time thanks to its incredible pure merino inner that delivers comfort and warmth. A big investment piece, I also love the sleek cut that is modern and sophisticated as well as functional with its durable water-repellent outer layer that keeps the rain out. Big an investment piece, I also love how it looks timeless with its cut and features that never go out of style. Also, since it is so lightweight it is fantastic for travel where you can easily fold-up the jacket without it taking up much space.
As for the tights, I have been loving (and living) in the Wade & Belle tights, a new brand of hosiery developed by two sisters. This includes tights that offer a a no-pinch waistband and no love handles for the ultimate in comfort and style.
The bag is my favorite new Halifax Hobo in Dragonfruit from Petunia Picklebottom. From the Cake Collection, these chic and fun pattern features an ultra-luxe European cut-velvet fabrics and materials, as well as clever design details mixed with a hint of whimsy. Personally, I love the vibrant and fun colors that is an ode to vintage styles while offering modern moms a functional diaper bag. This includes two zippered pockets, three open pockets and well-sized main space as well as a diaper case and changing pad for when you are with and without your baby. The detailing is also beautiful with its rich textiles, relaxed shape, top turn-lock closure, magnetic snap closure, leather trim, hidden zippered bottle pocket on side and the ability to wear it across your chest for a messenger-style carry or a small loop for your hand or shoulder. The ultimate diaper bag, this is one piece that I am going to be using way past the baby years.
At home, I am never in heels so it was fun to complete the look with these chic Umberto Raffini Veronica boots. Available on The Walking Company, I love the rich black of this boot that is accented with the cutest metal ornament and luxurious leathers. This boot is fantastic for any upcoming holiday parties that is actually really comfortable thanks to its cell foam insole and premium leather lining absorb shock and wick moisture for all around comfort. It is also made with breathable leather and an antimicrobial odor shield to prevents odor.
