Patriotic Fashions for Kids

This weekend as we honor those brave men and women in uniform, we can't help but feel patriotic and so grateful that we live in this amazing country of ours. Am I right? From Memorial Day weekend on, you can often find my kids and myself channeling the stars and stripes in our summer wardrobe.

I don't typically go for the literal flag interpretation when it comes to patriotic fashions, but instead use the colors as inspiration for the looks I put together. Red, white and blue can be combined in a myriad of fabulous ways, so I rounded up some of my favorite pieces from Baby Gap and Children's Place to show you just what I'm talking about.

For little ladies, it's super easy to turn to a dress or bubble romper. Add a pair of sandals and you're done! If you want to go a step further, go for some fun printed pants and don't be afraid to mix those prints. I'm a print mixing fanatic and no matter whether it's "in" or "out," both my kiddos' are often rockin' mixed prints.

I just love a stripes and plaid combo and, luckily, there are no shortage of striped and plaid boys' pieces out there. And you would be amazed how many ways they can be mixed and matched to create countless looks. For these outfits, I suggest adding a pair of espadrilles. Little dudes in espadrilles...Trust me. It doesn't get much cuter than that!

Even if you already know what your family is rockin' this weekend, you can use this post as inspiration for Fourth of July fashion, and if you're like me, you won't limit your family's patriotic style to the holidays. Red, white and blue truly works all summer long!
