Back-to-school is not all about shopping. It is also about giving back and one of our favorite organizations is Operation USA, an organization that believes education is the cornerstone of sustainable development. It has the power to transform lives with a lasting effect beyond nearly any other kind of aid.
Unfortunately, around the world, and even here in the United States, many students struggle to gain access to basic educational resources. Did you know that in developing countries, each additional year of education can increase a child's future income by 10%? Did you know that 53% of out-of-school children around the world are girls? Or that children born to educated mothers are less likely to be malnourished or stunted? The benefits of a good education are undeniable.
For families across the country and around the world, the back to school season is a fun and exciting time of year. But for many families, back to school season brings stress and worry due to the lack of resources available. To help families out, Operation USA offers campaigns in Haiti, New Orleans, and Nicaragua to help with the purchase of various items such as tuition and school fees, uniforms, construction of a garden and much more!
To help out you can pledge digital support, sharing the campaign links, or make a financial gift.
