Living in Brooklyn we are lucky to have access to so many small business, and one of our favorite places to shop for gifts and toys for the kids is Mini Max and Toy Space.
To honor these stores (and the many small businesses across the country) we will be celebrating the 4th annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day. Held on Saturday, November 9th, this special day helps celebrate the benefits of shopping local. Some stores will even have activities, craft projects, live performances and/or special discounts to help kick off the holiday shopping season and celebrate the joy of shopping for toys.
Coordinated by the non-profit organization ASTRA, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association, this special day introduces families to the fun of shopping locally and celebrates each toy stores commitment to the community. The annual event is a great way to foster a sense of community and provides economic stability to your area. In addition, independent toy stores tend to carry many of the high-quality, boutique and specialty products not typically found at big box stores.
As for some of the toys you might find, we love the Cargo and Passenger Aircraft by Playmobile and the Green Toys Seaplane - both of which were on ASTRAs Best Toys for Kids 2013. Great gifts for the holidays,. Perfect for the holiday season, all of the toys they highlight focus on classic, creative, pretend and game play for kids age one and up.
