BEST EVERYDAY STROLLER - Baby Jogger City Mini GT

bet strollers 2014

Wherever you live, whatever your lifestyle, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT is one of our favorite stroller picks for moms. Let’s start with its patented, one-handed, Quick-Fold Technology. You grab a handle in the seat and pull up, which collapse the stroller, locking it closed. It’s so simple you’ll wonder why you’ve put up with anything else. We love the City Mini GT’s excellent maneuvering, adjustable height handlebar, and full-coverage canopy with two peekaboo windows. The padded seat holds up to 65 lbs., reclines to nearly flat, and has mesh sides to allow for air flow. The all-terrain wheels give this stroller a smooth ride on a variety of surfaces while the 20 lb. stroller weight makes it easy to load into the trunk or carry up stairs.

BEST SIDE-BY-SIDE DOUBLE STROLLER - Mountain Buggy duet

best strollers

Side-by-side double strollers have their convenience – it’s easy to see and help both children at once, and there’s no fighting over who has the better view. But they can also be beasts that take up half the sidewalk, knock over store aisle displays, and require a scene anytime you want to go through a doorway. Except for the Mountain Buggy Duet. Mountain Buggy has designed their double stroller to be the same width as a single stroller – just 25” wide! Inside the super compact frame, there are still lots of your favorite stroller features like an adjustable handlebar, full-coverage canopy, and padded seats with a full recline. The Duet maneuvers and turns like a dream, but at 34 lbs., the stroller is on the heavier side.

BEST INLINE DOUBLE STROLLER - philandteds Vibe

best strollers

philandteds has so many great inline double strollers, it’s hard to pick to one, but this year, we’re loving the redesigned Vibe. True the Vibe is a single stroller and you’ll need to buy the second seat to make it a double, but it’s this versatility that makes us love philandteds’ stroller. The Vibe has a whopping 23 riding options that lets you stroll with one child or two, twins or toddlers. The new Vibe has a taller seat (41.3” high or tall enough for most 5 year olds), a pedi-saving hand brake, adjustable height handlebar, and a freestanding, compact fold. A fan of four wheels instead of three? The philandteds Verve has all the same features as the Vibe with the added fourth wheel.

BEST CITY STROLLER - Maclaren Quest

best strollers

City parents are usually looking for a stroller with two main features – a sturdy, yet lightweight frame and a fast, easy fold. From elevators and stairwells to taxis and subways, the perfect city stroller needs to be light enough to schlep up and down stairs, sturdy enough to handle curbs and sidewalk cracks, and open and close at the speed of city life. Which is why we – and moms from New York to Las Vegas – love the Maclaren Quest. At just over 14 lbs., the Quest is easy to push and its small footprint makes it a breeze to maneuver through crowded city streets. A one-handed recline lets you adjust the seatback to four positions including completely flat, making it suitable for infants. The two-step fold is simple and leaves the stroller locked shut, super compact, and able to be carried with either the side handle or shoulder strap. And of course, our favorite city stroller comes in a collection of muted neutrals (black, grey, brown) with small pops of colors – city chic at its best.

BEST SUBURBAN STROLLER - Bumbleride Indie

best strollers

From Target aisles to park trails, suburban moms need a stroller that can handle a variety of terrains and look good doing it. With its perfect blend of style and performance, the Bumbleride Indie takes the cake. The Indie’s rugged, all-terrain wheels provide a smooth ride for baby whether you’re on sidewalk, mulch, gravel or grass. An over-sized underseat basket (that you can actually access!) makes it easy to bring lunch to the park or load up at the farmer’s market. Suitable for infants to kids up to 45 lbs., the Indie’s interior fabrics is made of an eco-friendly bamboo blended fabric that naturally absorbs moisture and regulates temperature. Parents will love the adjustable handlebar, large canopy with peekaboo window, and ability to maneuver the 20 lb. stroller with one hand. The Indie also comes with a cup holder, foldable bumper bar and universal car seat adapter bar. Yes, it can work as a jogger, but serious runners may want to check out our Must-Have Jogging Stroller instead.

BEST LIGHTWEIGHT - Inglesina Swift

Momtrends Must Haves

We love umbrella strollers for their lightweight frames, but hate that many of them aren’t durable enough to be practical. Then we met the Inglesina Swift. Weighing just 13 lbs., the Swift is definitely easy on the back and a breeze to push, but even better, the Swift is loaded with features that makes it our favorite lightweight stroller. We’ll start our praise at the top – the Swift’s canopy is amazing! The standard canopy offers great coverage and locks open, but if you want even more, there is a fold-out extension for additional coverage. A storage pocket on the back of the canopy provides easy access for your phone or keys and a good-sized underseat basket is easy to access. The Swift has a great upright position for kids who like to look around as well as four levels of recline. The simple, two-step fold leaves the stroller locked shut and easy to carry with the side handle. Even sweeter – the lightweight Inglesina is under $140.

BEST LUXURY - UPPAbaby Vista

best strollers

Sometime you spend more without actually getting more. This isn’t the case with out favorite luxury stroller, the UPPAbaby Vista. One of our favorite features is that the Vista stroller comes with a separate bassinet that can be used on the stroller frame to provide a comfortable ride for newborns. The bassinet has a luxurious mattress, ventilated canopy and extendable sunshade - plus it can be carried by the handle built into the canopy. You can even bring it inside for naps or overnight sleeping! Onto the stroller – the Vista has a reversible seat, large, adjustable height canopy, and included zip-in rain and bug shields. Parents will love the extension handlebar, easy-access basket and foam core rubber wheels that never need to be pumped up. Pair it with a car seat for a travel system, add the Rumble Seat to make it suitable for siblings or put on the Piggy Back Ride Along Board to give an older child a ride. Plus the Vista comes in an array of nine gorgeous colors. Our favorite luxury stroller does cost more, but in return, you get loads of style, features, and comfort.

BEST VALUE - Chicco Liteway

best stroller

A great stroller doesn’t have to break the bank. Case in point, the Chicco Liteway. At under $150, the Liteway is affordable without skimping on the features you care about most. The padded seat has a full recline, padded harness straps and “foot retention boot” that folds out from a pocket under the footrest to create a bassinet-style enclosure for the seat. Parents will love the included cup holder and unique underseat storage basket that detaches to convert into a lightweight backpack. And did we mention that the Liteway weighs only 17 lbs.? For a lightweight stroller, it has larger-than-average 7” wheels and rear-wheel suspension that help it maneuver over rough sidewalks. Plus swivel wheels make it a breeze to use in narrow store aisles. A one-handed, two-step fold leaves the stroller compact, automatically locked shut, and portable with the side carry handle. Affordable and feature-filled, the Chicco Liteway is our favorite best value stroller.

BEST LIGHTWEIGHT TRAVEL SYSTEM - Maxi-Cosi Kaia Mico Nxt Travel System

best strollers

Travel systems have a tendency to be bulky, but the new Maxi-Cosi Kaia Mico Nxt Travel system is compact, nimble yet durable, and weighs just 19 lbs. The Kaia stroller has good maneuvering, a padded seat, and a tall back with a high canopy – our tall almost 4-year-old tester had no problem fitting. The stroller has a two-step fold that leaves it compact, locked closed and self-standing. We wished the seat recline had a few more height options, but love that this is a compact, lightweight travel system you can actually travel with. The Maxi-Cosi Mico Nxt car seat comes with an infant head support, is suitable for babies up to 22 lbs., and fits onto the stroller with the included car seat adapters.

BEST FULL-SIZED TRAVEL SYSTEM - Britax B-Ready and B-Safe

best strollers

Some travel systems have a great stroller but come with a mediocre car seat while others have an award-winning car seat in a less-than-stylish stroller. With the Britax B-Ready stroller and B-Safe car seat, you get the best of both worlds. A safe car seat with built-in side impact protection, energy-absorbing foam and a 30 lbs. weight limit and Britax’s amazing B-Ready stroller that comes with a reversible seat, adjustable handlebar and included cup holder and bumper bar. One of our favorite features is that the B-Safe car seat attaches easily with the integrated CLICK & GO adapter system and the car seat can face either direction, allowing you to give baby the best view. An ample sunshade protects baby from the elements while foam-filled rubber tires and shocks keep the ride smooth, whatever your terrain. We also love the underseat basket that has zippered access on the front and both sides allowing you access to your items regardless of which of the 14 seat configurations you’re using. The B-Ready folds in one step, locks shut and stands upright. You’re ready to travel.

BEST JOGGER - BOB Revolution SE

best strollers

There are lots of jogger-esque strollers that can make you look like you might break into a trot at any moment, but few of these actually perform for true runners. For parents who run, jog or walk briskly, you will not be disappointed by the BOB Revolution SE jogging stroller. All-terrain, air-filled tires and adjustable shocks provide a smooth ride for junior along with a good seat recline, mesh inside seat pockets to hold snacks and water bottles, and a full-coverage canopy. There aren’t many included extras with the Revolution unless you count a padded handlebar and large, sturdy underseat basket. What you do get is amazing one-finger steering control and the one feature that we have yet to see on other jogging strollers – a fine-tuning knob for the front wheel so that when you lock it straight for long runs, you can adjust it to make sure it is truly straight. An invaluable feature.

NEWCOMER AWARD - philandteds Smart Lux

best strollers of 2014

Cook, chauffer, and cheerleader, block-builder, hair-braider and hugger – moms are never wearing just one hat and we love gear that is as adaptable as we are. The new philandteds Smart Lux stroller is just that. The highlight is its plush, versatile seat that can face forwards or backwards and can transform from a lay-flat bassinet to an upright toddler seat with two simple clasps. The Smart Lux also comes with a full-coverage canopy with a flip-up peekaboo window that unzips to extend even further and an underseat basket that is large and easy to access. Smooth maneuvering, a slim profile (just 21.6” wide), and a quick fold make the Smart Lux our favorite newcomer to the stroller market.
