We have some exciting news to celebrate the new year with the release of American Girl's 2015 Girl of the Year. This year, the doll is Grace Thomas, an avid baker with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Grace shows girls today that following your dreams can lead to sweet rewards. Available for only one year, Grace will launch with two books that tell her story, a beautiful 18-inch Grace doll, and an array of fun accessories.
To further Grace's inspirational message for girls, American Girl has created For Goodness, Bake!--a year-long fund-raising initiative in support of No Kid Hungry, the campaign to end childhood hunger in America from Share Our Strength.
Grace will also be accompanied with several books including Grace, Grace Stirs It Up, and Grace Makes It Great. There will also be an app called the Grace Sweet Shop Paid App where Grace has big summer plans to start a business with friends until Mom announces there’s other business to attend to—in France! Grace and her mother must go to Paris to help Aunt Sophie and Uncle Bernard run their pastry shop. Play Grace Sweet Bites to mix, roll, bake, and decorate French pastries just like Grace. Please customers by making tarts, éclairs, macarons, and more. Or invent your own fresh-from-the-oven goodies in free-play mode. The more you play, the more in-game recipes, achievements, and tiny treat recipes you’ll unlock.
Other Grace-related activities for girls include the In the Mix with Grace online journal and year-long Grace-themed retail events. A full-length movie based on Grace's stories will debut on DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment later in 2015.
