Jeans are probably the hardest item of clothing to find the perfect fit. Most women, myself included, need to try-on their denim before purchasing it. Momtrends recently attended a Lee Jean Fall Fashion preview where we were offered advice on how to find the "perfect fitting jeans" according to your body type. Lee has been the frontrunner in innovation: they were the first to make jeans with a zipper fly, the first to make pre-shrunk jeans and the first to make jeans specifically designed for a woman's body.
There are three typical different shapes of women: boyish, pear, or apple.
Boyish Shape - The boyish or straight body shape should look for a jean that is straight from the hips to the waist area and does not curve in at the waist. Look for low to mid rise, hand sanding and whiskers at the thighs, bootcut or skinnies.
Pear Shape - This shape should look for a slight curve at the top of the jean because this will prevent a gapping waistband while also allowing for room in hips. Look for mid rise, pocket detail, clean, dark denim, and straight or boot cuts.
Apple Shape - The apple shaped women should look for a jean with plenty of room in the waist and less fabric in the tights and legs. Look for hidden elastic waistbands, a longer rise, dark washes, and slimmer styles that don't have extra fabric in the legs.
