Brooklyn got a little cooler when Ikea arrived. Ikea Redhook is a boon for any family. I just got back from the Ikea preview in Chelsea. And now I am eager to visit the Red Hook store. It's been on my to-do list for a bit. Who doesn't love a store that offers FREE kiddie care and a place to grab a bite.
Småland is the supervised play area in the Brooklyn store. Småland helps you shop while the kids are entertained (the must meet a height requirement) Its located downstairs in the lobby. In addition, there are smaller play areas throughout the store for kids to enjoy with their parents supervision.
Why not make it an adventure and try the water taxi? New York Water Taxi now runs a FREE daily shuttle from Wall Street's Pier 11 in Manhattan to Brooklyn's new Ikea superstore. Landing right at Ikea's own dock in Red Hook. What a super adventure with the kids!
Kids Meals: Choose from 13 items that you can mix and match anyway you like to satisfy the hungriest of kids! Items include: Organic pasta with marinara sauce, Swedish meatballs, mac & cheese, PB & J, mashed potatoes, organic applesauce, baby carrots, mixed vegetables, cookies, yogurt, apple juice, milk, etc.
Then there's the actual shopping -- from desks to toys, so be prepped to spend the day there and even if you aren't ready to spend a ton, I dare you to head there and NOT get something.
