If another baby is in the cards for our family, the hubs and I would love to make the next one a surprise. While, I had a lot of fun shopping for little boy and girl clothes after I found out the sex of my first two kiddos, I can only imagine how exciting it is to not find out until the moment your little one enters the world.
If you're expecting a bambino and have decided to wait to find out the sex or you know someone who is waiting, I'm sure you've been on the lookout for gender neutral layette pieces. While you can get away with not buying the bulk of a baby's clothes until he or she makes his or her arrival, the little cherub will need something to go home from the hospital in and it makes life much easier on the parents if they're set up with a proper layette, so they don't have to worry about shopping for at least the first few weeks.
While, typically, gender neutral pieces are white, yellow or green, you don't have to stick to tradition! Gender neutral hues like aqua, red, grey and navy totally work for both boys and girls. I'm all for bucking the stereotypes! And you can always throw a cute headband or bow on your baby girl if you want to make her gender obvious. Haha! My daughter has worn bow bedecked headbands from day one. I love combining uber girly headbands with less feminine colors and pieces. I'm all about fashion contradictions, but I digress...
