Getting Ready Essentials, Katie Holmes

Getting ready is not always easy with the kids. From covering events to simply getting out the house, I rely on a few essentials to help me look by best. Here are some of my favorites this week.

1. Getting ready all starts with a shower, and recently we have been loving the new curated set by Alterna that was put together by co-owner, Katie Holmes. Great for the holidays and everyday use, this set reflects Katie’s travel must have’s for the woman on the go. Keep hair youthful-looking and fresh with the limited edition collection includes Caviar Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, Bamboo Smooth Kendi Pure Treatment Oil, and Bamboo Style Cleanse Extend Dry Shampoo. Find it at, Ulta, and fine salons

2. Another favorite that I love to get ready with is Somersets Shaving Oil. Shaving can be painful so I love using these 100% natural oils (derived from plants such as Rosemary and
Lavender, Tea Tree and Sweet Almond) that coats the blade to deliver a close and smooth shave without nicks, cuts or razor burn. It also has no chemicals so it is safe for your teen to use.

Keeping your New Year's resolutions

The New Year is off to a fresh start, and many of us are committed to doing something or many things with more intention this year. But it's tough to stay on track. In fact, “Quitters Day”, which falls on January 14th this year, is the day when most people give up. How can you more

Kids in the Kitchen: Mini Banana Waffle Pies With Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce

School has started back for many (us included!), and today's Kid's in the Kitchen recipe makes for a perfect breakfast or after-school snack. We made ours for an after-school snack the other day and my second grader loved it. We call this recipe Mini Banana Waffle Pies With more

The Best Overnight French Toast Recipe

We've hit the winter lull--that lengthy stretch of season with no plans, no parties, nothing to do, and nowhere to go. I have to admit that at first, I welcomed the quiet obligation-free weekends of January. After the nonstop hustle-bustle pace of November and December, my family more

3. Post-shaving I have been loving a new lotion calledLe Couvent des Minimes. This gentle cream is great for the legs, hands as body as it nourishes and moisturizes the skin. Containing calendula extract, mallow extract and their own galen wax, the formula works to quickly heal dry skin as it leaves it soft and super supple. The formula is so effective that it can even be used on baby's delicate skin.

4. HookedUp Shapewear: I'm a believer in shapewear, but not all shapewear is created equal. Some bunch and others just feel way too tight. I finally found the perfect medium with HookedUp Shapewear, a patent-pending shapewear product, that will does not down or bunch up! I tested out the High Waist Shaping Slip that I put on before an event. I loved how smooth and comfortable I felt throughout the event as well as how it provided no gaps between my bra. This actually works for all bras as it creates an effective and functional product - no matter what your size is.
